John D. "Jack" Woerth of Christiana died at home on Tuesday, October 29, 2013. He was 78. Mr. Woerth was born in Christiana, a son of the late John and Emily Pickell Woerth. He founded Woerth's Body Shop in Nickel Mines in the early 1960s. In 1967, he moved the firm to a farm east of Nine Points, where he established Woerth's Used Cars. Mr. Woerth was a member of the Slumbering Groundhog Lodge, Waterloo Boys, Rough & Tumble, and the Bart Township Fire Company, where he served as president. He enjoyed the quiet and beauty of his home, "Down the Hollow." He also enjoyed spending time at the family's log cabin at Raystown Lake.
Mr. Woerth enjoyed spending time with his family, cars, tractors, bluegrass music, his horse, Norman, and his donkey, Izzy. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, E. Patricia Sinclair Woerth; four children, Scott, husband of Linda Stoltzfus Woerth, Kimberly, wife of Jerry Bandy, Brian, husband of Cheryn Heckel Woerth, and Lori, wife of James Wiggins; eight grandchildren, Jessica Bandy, John Clayton, husband of Lindsay Fisher Bandy, Veronica, wife of Brian Mull, Jaclyn Woerth, Chelsea Woerth, Justin Woerth, Joel Wiggins, and Emily Wiggins; and two great-granddaughters, Eva Grace Bandy and Sarah Jordan Rose Bandy. His youngest daughter, Amy Jo Woerth, and his sister, Elizabeth Feister, are deceased. Friends may call at Shivery Funeral Home, 111 Elizabeth St., Christiana, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 2. Services will be held from the funeral home at 11 a.m. on that date with Pastor Blake Deibler officiating. Burial was private. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Community Care, P.O.
