John C. Long, 101, of Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, died Sunday, August 308/31/2020
John C. Long, 101, resident of Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community for the past 25 years went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 30, 2020. He was the husband of the late Grace E. Long who passed away on October 2012. He was born in Westmont, New Jersey the son of the late Joseph A. Long and Anne (Lutz) Long. On April 11, 1942, he married Grace E. Comfort. They had two children, Jeffrey J. Long of New Port Richey, Florida (who passed away in July 2020) and Robyn L. Long of Greenland, New Hampshire. The Lord blessed John and Grace with 3 grandchildren, Stephen, Kelley and Michael and with 5 great grandchildren, Austin, Brayden, Levi, Mila and Landon; all of Florida. During World War II, John served as a Master Sergeant in the Air Force. He served in Montana and North Africa at the Headquarters North African Division of Air Transport Command.
John was the President and owner of J.C. Long Realty Co. in Haddonfield, New Jersey. He was active in church and civic organizations. He was a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Cherry Hill, N.J. where he served as an Elder and Sunday School Superintendent. John was a past President of the Rotary Club of Haddonfield, NJ.; past President of the Geographic Society of Haddonfield, former Director of the City Federal and Savings Bank, and the Haddonfield Savings and Loan Association; former member of the Board of Governors for the Haddonfield Civic Association; former member of the Board of Trustees of Covenant Theological Seminary, St. Louis, Mo.; past Vice President of Gideon’s International (Camden, NJ. branch); former Trustee of the Bible Presbyterian Home, Delanco, NJ. and a member of the Camden County Board of Realtors. Due to Covid 19- a celebration of life service will be held in the near future. Traditional interment is private in Quarryville Cemetery.
