Jeanette M. Nickel, 82, passed away peacefully at home, while under Hospice care, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, August 24, 2024. She was the daughter of Marvin and Eleanor (Pickel) Myers and is survived by her husband of 63 years, Carl Nickel, and their two sons, Joseph Nickel, husband of Barbara Nickel, and Andrew Nickel, husband of Catherine Nickel. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christine, Emily, Allison, Micheal, Hunter, and Chase; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Riley, Naomi, Madeleine, Ettienne, and Nova; 3 siblings, Thelma Webbere, Dottie Rynier, and Norman Myers; a son-in-law, Jack Miller; and her beloved black lab dog, Bullet. In addition to her parents, Jeanette was predeceased by her daughter, Janet Miller, a twin sister, Janet Myers, and a brother, Marvin Myers. She worked for 20 years at Turkey Hill, several years at the Market Basket in Strasburg, and a few days a week at Kohls during retirement. She continued working until a year ago. Jeanette will be remembered for her patience and kindness. She was a second mother to many. Jeanette loved to spend time with family and friends, loved to watch NASCAR races with her husband, and she was a fan of Elvis. She was known for taking lots of pictures at the many family events. Each year Jeanette looked forward to spending winters in Florida, camping in their RV, and enjoying weekends at their mountain camp with family and friends. Our funny stories of her will be of her ability to hide and sneak cigarettes.
