Jay Allen Kendig, 84, of Penny Road, Holtwood, PA died peacefully at his residence on Sunday, November 27, 2016. He and his wife Nancy Carolyn Noakes Kendig celebrated 59 years of marriage this past April. Born in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Omer and Mary Elizabeth Kautz Kendig. After 35 years of service, Jay retired from ADT Security, where he worked as an electrician, working primarily at the US Pentagon. Following his retirement he was employed by Millersville University for 11 years. A U.S. Korean War veteran, he served in the US Navy, serving with NAVCOMMSTA, Guam, M.I. He was a former member of the Church of Atonement in Wheaton, MD and a current member of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, Quarryville, PA. Jay’s hobbies varied greatly from gardening, flying, fishing, going on cruises, to storytelling. Surviving beside his wife Nancy are 3 children, Wayne (Patricia O’Reilly) Kendig of Destin, FL, Doris (Mike) Rinehart of Thurmond, MD, Carol Kendig and her companion Matt Kutyba of Mt. Airy, MD; 2 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at Reynolds Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 10:30AM with Rev. Dr. William Netting officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Tunnel Cemetery, Elizabethtown, PA. A viewing will be held from 9:30AM until the time of service.
