Janet G. Chambers, 91, of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, entered into rest on Saturday, October 18, 2014. Born in Greenock, Scotland, she was a daughter of the late Robert W. and Margaret (Reid) Grott. She is survived by her husband of over 70 years, Robert C. Chambers. Mrs. Chambers moved from Scotland to New York as a child and spent most of her life in New York State. She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Schenectady, NY. She was active in church choirs, ensembles, and she played piano and organ in several churches.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children: Robert, husband of Diana Chambers of Fishersville, Va.; Bruce, husband of Janet Chambers of Malvern; Barbara, wife of Paul Morrison of Webster, N.Y.; and William, husband of Bonnie Chambers of Clifton, Va. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and a brother, Robert Grott. Friends may call at Dewald Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. 227 West Fourth Street, Quarryville, on Saturday October 25, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. A memorial service will follow in the Ellingsworths Auditorium of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, 625 Robert Fulton Hwy. Quarryville, at 2 p.m. on that date with Chaplain Steve Phillips officiating. Traditional Interment will be private in the Arlington National Cemetery.
