Ivan Anderson Crews, 94, of Oxford, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at home surrounded by family. He was the husband of Jeanetta Moore Crews with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Ivan Hall and Margaret Anderson Crews. Ivan was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps and served in WWII and the Korean War. He graduated from Ridley High School, received his Bachelor’s degree in History from Kings College, DE and his Teacher’s degree from West Chester University. Ivan was a fifth grade teacher for the Oxford Area School District for 29 years and retired in the early 90’s. Ivan accepted the Lord as his Savior as he prepared to deploy to India during WWII at the age of 19. He faithfully attended church all his life. Ivan enjoyed bird watching in his back yard, the Philadelphia Phillies and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife; one son, Joel Anderson Crews (Barbara Jean) of Millersville; two daughters, Karen Brenneman (Ronald) of Oxford and Rebecca Misiura (Larry) of Boyertown; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Wesley Crews of Peach Bottom and Marvin Crews of NC.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Crews and Leonard Crews. Funeral services will be held 10 am, Saturday, Oct. 7th, at Highland Baptist Church, 1 E Highland Rd, Parkesburg, PA 19365, where friends may visit from 9 – 10 am. Interment with full military honors will be in Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Highland Baptist Church or Child Evangelism Fellowship of Chester Co., PO Box 50, Coatesville, PA 19320. Arrangements by the Edward L.
