Helen M. Happel died at the Willow Valley Retirement Community on Thursday, June 25, 2015. She was 97. Mrs. Happel was born in Drumore Township, a daughter of the late John G. and Katheryn Drumm Farmer. She graduated from Drumore High School and the Preston Retreat Maternity Hospital in Philadelphia. She worked for the Robinson family in Philadelphia for 32 years and remained close to the family's children, Nin Vitow of Villanova, Lisa, wife of Robert Segal of Wynnewood, and Linda, wife of David Groverman of Blue Bell. Following her retirement, she remained close to their families and was an influence in the early lives of their seven children.
Mrs. Happel was a lifelong member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Rawlinsville Camp Meeting, and of BUMC, Holtwood. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting, and knitting. Mrs. Happel is survived by seven nieces; a nephew; and 23 grand nieces and nephews. Her husband, Walter Happel, died in 1992. Friends may call at the Conestoga United Methodist Church, 71 Sand Hill Rd., Conestoga, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 2. A memorial service will be held from the church at 11 a.m. on that date. A traditional burial will be in the adjoining cemetery following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethesda United Methodist Church, 1086 Hilldale Rd., Holtwood PA 17532 or to Rawlinsville Camp Meeting Association, 475 Clearfield Rd., Holtwood PA 17532.
