Else C. Lewis, 95, of Drumore, PA passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Arbor View at Willow Valley following a short illness. She was the wife of the late Master Sergeant Robert N. Lewis who died on November 15, 2007. She was born in Insterburg, German on March 11, 1923 to the late George and Margarete Pruess Anspach. After WWII she worked for the American Army as a secretary/interpreter in Ludwigsburg, Germany where she met her husband. They were married for 59 years. Else came to the United States as a war bride and became a citizen in 1952. She retired after 33 years, as an Executive Secretary for Westinghouse’s Elevator Division in Philadelphia. After retirement she and her husband moved from Darby, PA to Spring Hill, FL. They both enjoyed the warm weather in Florida and resided there for 17 years before returning to PA. Else loved to travel, garden, read, play Scrabble, bake and cook. She is survived by her daughter, Monica wife of Kenneth Kellow of Drumore, PA; her grandson Kevin Kellow and his wife Carrie of Springfield, VT; two great grandchildren, Kendrick Kellow and Lauren Dressen of Springfield, VT; and a step son Robert A. Lewis and his wife Helen of Ridgely, WV and their children and grandchildren.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Quarryville Library, 357 Buck Road, Quarryville, PA 17566 or to a charity of one’s choice.
