Dorothy H. Crawford of the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, died at home on Tuesday, December 31, 2013. She was 91. Mrs. Crawford was born in Kirkwood, a daughter of the late George A. and Dora Sherman Hogg. She lived in Kirkwood before moving to the Masonic Village. She worked as cafeteria coordinator for the Solanco School District for 15 years and as cafeteria manager for the school district for 10 years. She retired in 1985. Mrs. Crawford was a lifelong member of the former Kirkwood Presbyterian Church. She had also been a member of Farm Women Society #20 and Robert Fulton Chapter 146, Order of the Eastern Star, Quarryville.
She served as secretary treasurer of the Kirkwood Burial Association for 32 years. In 2000, she became a director of the association, which was founded by her father. Mrs. Crawford enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her son, Ronald, husband of Sib Eshleman Crawford of Lancaster; two daughters, Joyce, wife of Wilburn Potter of Strasburg and Bonnie, wife of Wayne Weismandel of Mount Joy; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Her husband, William R. Crawford Jr., died in 2007. Half sisters Leah Deaver, Lena Ferree, Leta Ferree, Laila Greenleaf, and Helen Graver; and her half brother, Earl Hogg, are also deceased. Friends may call at Union Presbyterian Church, 5637 Street Rd., Kirkwood, from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 4. Services will be held from the church at 2 p.m. on that date with the Rev. Tom Chase officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105.
