Esther Mae Sample, 94, of Evergreen Estates and formerly of New Providence, entered into rest on Monday, December 19, 2016. Born in New Providence, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Mary (Kreider) Mull. Her husband, Harold L. Sample died in 1999. Esther and her husband farmed and stood in Lancaster Market. She also worked in food service for the Solanco School District and went on to retire from the former Willow Valley Restaurant. Esther was a member of Lampeter Church of the Brethren. When she was younger, Esther enjoyed traveling across the US; and despite being a wonderful cook, she liked to eat out. She collected Longaberger Baskets. A real people person, Esther enjoyed her family and friends and would often visit the sick and homebound. She is survived by: a son Kenneth and wife Rhonda of Ft. Myers, FL.; a daughter Darlene and her husband Paul Buehler of New Providence and a son, Harold, Jr and his wife Sandra of Manheim; along with 13 grandchildren, 21 great- grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Esther was preceded in death by daughters; Patsy Altland and Doris Stumpf, a son Robert Sample along with 10 brothers and a sister.
Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 12 noon from Lampeter Church of the Brethren, 1900 Lampeter Rd., Lancaster, PA with Pastor John Hostetter officiating. A viewing will be held at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 until 12 noon. There will be a graveside service on Tuesday at 3:00 pm in the Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
