Deborah Nichole Lane, age 73, of Peach Bottom, passed away on Wednesday May 3, 2023, in the comfort of her home. Deborah was born in Bryn Mawr to parents Jesse and Martha Stewart Martin on March 16, 1950. She was happily married to Michael Lane, Sr. on Valentine's Day 2001, the day of love, in West Grove. They were married 22 years. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren. She and Michael shared 17 grandchildren with another coming in September. Deborah loved to get down on the floor and read books and play pretend with them. She loved to rock her grandson, Carter, to sleep in the rocking chair and take naps, snuggling her grandbabies close. There was no crying baby that she couldn’t calm. She delighted in picking her grandson Crew up from school and said there was no better feeling than when he reached his arms out for her to hold him. Growing up and throughout her adult life, she loved spending time at her family's farm in Roxboro, NC. Deborah was a member of the Native American Sappony Tribe. She loved sweets and a cup of tea; and enjoyed baking recipes from her family down south. Whatever she would bake did not last long on the counter. It was that good. Her husband, Michael, was her best friend and she could not sleep without him in bed with her. She would wait up until all hours of the night to make sure he got home from work safely. They did everything together. Debbie dragged Michael to every outlet store, mall and shopping center that she could find. He would go happily and they would always hold hands in the car. Deborah was funny, sweet, soft and kind; that was her true nature.
She loved Jesus. In 2000 she converted to Catholicism and enjoyed meeting every Priest and Monsignor she could find. She loved congregating and community. If you were at her house at the end of the day-expect to be doused in holy water, followed by “in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.” She would bless anyone she could get her hands on and always her grandsons and her dogs; sometimes even if it was in the middle of the day. She would usually say “you really need this today.” She was quick to be the first person to sit to pray with and for you. On the good days and the bad. In the end, she poured all her love into her husband, her children, grandchildren, and her two puppies Bella and Mandy. Deborah is survived by her husband Michael, children: Joel Rickards, Tracie (Jorge) Beltran, Melissa Rickards, Thomas (Janet) Rickards, Brittany (Andrew) Powl, Beth Ann (David) McCook and 17 1/2 grandchildren. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reynolds and Shivery Funeral Home. Comments are closed.
