David J. "Pappy" Comfort of Holtwood died on Sunday, January 19, 2014. He was 75. Mr. Comfort was born in Lancaster, a son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Jenkins Comfort. He worked as a maintenance supervisor of the Mount Joy Vo-Tech School. After retiring, he delivered newspapers for Lancaster Newspapers. Mr. Comfort was a member of the New Providence Church of God.
He enjoyed golfing, boating, and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Comfort is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan L. Gleisner Comfort; four daughters, Kathy, wife of Christopher Quinn of Cleveland, Ohio, Karen Durand, companion of Jon Fernandez of Virginia Beach, Va., Kori, wife of Daniel Bowers of Quarryville, and Kristi, wife of Brandon Miller of New Providence; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald, husband of Sally Comfort of Lancaster, and Charles, husband of Marcella Comfort of Longview, Texas; his sister, Betty, wife of Wes Hughes of Coconut Beach, Fla.; and his dog, Holly. A sister, Joann Current, is deceased. Friends may call at the New Providence Church of God, 269 Cinder Rd., New Providence PA 17560, from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, January 24. Services will be held from the church at 2 p.m. on that date with the Rev. Dwight Lefever officiating. Burial will be in the New Providence Church of God Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in care of the New Providence Church of God.
