Charles Peterson, 97, passed away Tuesday, October 25th, 2022 at his home in West Grove, Pennsylvania surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Lucy Peterson, with whom he shared 71 years of marriage. Born in Poplar, North Carolina he was the son of Samuel and Texie Peterson. He had ten brothers and one sister, all of whom preceded him in death. A veteran of the Pacific Theater in WWII, Charles earned several recognitions for his service including the Bronze Star for heroism during the Battle of Okinawa. He loved his country and was an avid patriot, attaining the rank of corporal in the U.S. Army. Following the war, Charles and his family moved to Pennsylvania where he worked for 35 years at NVF in Kennett Square, retiring as a supervisor. Charles loved his family dearly and was a hero to them all. He is survived by his daughter Diana and husband Bryan of Felton, Delaware, his son Greg and wife Brenda of Landenberg, Pennsylvania, his son Dwayne and wife Tracy of West Grove, Pennsylvania, and his youngest son Roger and wife Candace of Nottingham, Pennsylvania. He has 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren whom he referred to as “his little ones”.
Services will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Edward L. Collins Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 86 Pine Street, Oxford, PA. Visitation will occur at 10 am with services following at 11 am.
