Charles L. Griest, 85, of Peach Bottom PA, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018. He was the husband of Frances Wilson Griest. They would have celebrated 65 years of marriage June 25. Charles was a self-employed truck driver and was also the owner operator of Hilltop Garage in the 1970’s. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a 50+ year member of the American Legion, and a past member of the Valley Lee Riding Club and Slumbering Groundhog Lodge. An avid hunter, he enjoyed spending time in Renovo, Clinton County also having lived there for 15 years. Charlie was known for his storytelling and humor. Born in Little Britain Twp PA, a son of the late Veryl B and Stella M. Anderson Griest. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 5 children, Charles L. Griest, Jr (Darlene), Refton, Tina Devonshire (Garland), New Providence, Marcie Wilburn, Peach Bottom, Veryl R. Griest (Alexis), Peach Bottom, Mary Stottlemyer (Tom), Paradise, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister Miriam and a brother Russell. Family and friends are invited to attend an informal gathering and light refreshments in a celebration of Charlie’s life, Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 12-2:00 PM at Eastland Friends Meeting House, 10 Friends Road, Nottingham, PA.
