Charles D. Witmer, 93, formerly of Quarryville, PA, was born March 25, 1924 in Kirkwood, PA and went to be with his Heavenly Father on June 7, 2017 in Fort Mill, SC, He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary, whom he married in Oxford, PA in 1953. They lived in Quarryville, PA, for 62 years, and moved to South Carolina in 2016. He is also survived by their children, David (and wife, Robin), Phyllis (and husband, Robert), Ken (and wife Alicia), six grandchildren (Erin, Shelby, Kellie, Ryan, Jonathan and Katelyn) and four great-grandchildren. He graduated from Quarryville High School and Lancaster Business College. His career included working for Stoner Ink Co., Bird-in-Hand Poultry Co., Rohrer Feed and Seed Co., the U.S. Post Service, and Manheim Auto Auction. He was a faithful member of Memorial United Methodist Church, and was involved in the choir, men’s groups, and hosting the youth. He also volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
While he will be greatly missed, the family finds comfort in knowing that he is now with the Lord Jesus. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service celebrating his life on earth on June 13, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church, 101 S. Hess Street, Quarryville, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either the Memorial United Methodist Church, or to Harvesters Ministries, 5375 Clarks Bridge Road, Gainesville, GA, 30506.
