Cecelia F. “Diddie” Groff, 92, of Quarryville, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community (QPRC). She was the loving wife of the late Warren T. “Mac” Groff, with whom she shared 68 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2020. Born in Colerain Township, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Mowery) Groff. She was raised by her grandmother and step-grandfather, Mary Emma (Brubaker) Mowery Good and Charles Good. During her lifetime Cecelia worked in manufacturing for Tidy Products, Hubley Manufacturing, RCA, and Kerr Glass. She was an excellent baker, and she especially enjoyed baking pies to give to neighbors. Cecelia was particular about her lawn being well-kept. She also enjoyed growing sweet corn to be used in soups for church fundraisers. Cecelia was a life-long member of New Providence Church of God. She is survived by a daughter, Sandy Barnett, and husband James, of New Providence, and a son, John Groff, and wife Holly, of Christiana. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Groff, and a brother, Marvin Groff. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 8, at Providence Church, 269 Cinder Road, New Providence, PA 17560. There will not be a visitation prior to the service. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery. The Groff family extends their gratitude and appreciation to the QPRC Thompson 1st floor staff for the excellent care they provided to Cecelia.
