Brian L. Zug of Peach Bottom died Thursday, April 17, 2014, following complications from heart surgery. He was 39. He was the son of Edward L. and Debra Pearson Zug of Peach Bottom. Mr. Zug was a dairy farmer. He was a member of Solanco Young Farmers, and had served on the Lancaster County Extension Board, and the dairy committee for the Solanco Fair. He had also coached Solanco FFA dairy judging. He was a 1992 graduate of Solanco High School, and earned an Associate’s degree from State University of New York, Alfred campus.
He was a member of Mechanic Grove Mennonite Church, Quarryville. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, twin sister Emily Zug, Peach Bottom, Irene Weyman and husband Scott of Quarryville, two nephews, two nieces, and his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Zug, Peach Bottom. The Funeral Service will be held at Mechanic Grove Mennonite Church, Center Road, Quarryville, on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Wayne Kreider and Jay Ranck officiating. Burial will be in Mechanic Grove Mennonite Cemetery. Visitations will be held at Mechanic Grove Mennonite Church on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made which will establish an annual FFA award in Mr. Zug's memory. Checks should be made payable to Solanco School District, and sent to 121 South Hess Street, Quarryville, PA 17566.
