Arthur Eugene Tuinstra of Kirkwood died at home on Tuesday, October 8, 2013. He was 72. Mr. Tuinstra was born in Havertown, a son of Mary Blake Tuinstra of Malvern and the late Arthur Tuinstra. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He attended Monsignor Bonner High School and graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in 1965.
Mr. Tuinstra served with the Pennsylvania State Police for 25 years, retiring from the Avondale Barrack in 1991. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. In addition to his mother, Mr. Tuinstra is survived by his wife, Catherine Mary Kelly Tuinstra; seven children, Brian, husband of Lori Tuinstra, Joseph, husband of Jennifer Shinault Tuinstra, Kelly Ann, wife of Joe Baker, Steven, husband of Yulia Tuinstra, Clair, wife of Mike Watts, Kara Tuinstra, and Shannon, wife of David Detwiler; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, John Tuinstra and Timothy Tuinstra; and his sister, Rosemary Moerman. Friends may call at the Edward L. Collins Funeral Home, 86 Pine St., Oxford, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 10. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 11, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 203 Church Rd., Oxford. Burial will be in the Oxford Cemetery.
