Eugene K. Frey, 86, of Holtwood, entered into rest on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at his home. Born in Providence Twp., he was a son of the late Elias and Gertrude (Kline) Frey. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Martha E. (Weitzel) Frey. Early in his life, Gene served in the United States Navy and worked as a carpenter. He built all four of the homes that he lived in. He went on to work for Fulton Bank for over forty years. He was known for stringing the white Christmas lights on the trees that lined the streets in Lancaster at Fulton Bank and Shaub’s. Gene played softball in the southern end church league and was a member of the Worship Center. Gene was known as a hard worker who could get anything done. He was an avid hunter who also enjoyed fishing and landscaping. Nathan G. Walter, 37, of Holtwood PA, passed away on December 12, 2015. He was the husband of Megan L. Montgomery Walter. They had celebrated 12 years of marriage. Nathan had been employed as a millwright with Talen Energy. He enjoyed camping, fishing, his family, and was known for being a hard worker. Born in Lancaster PA, Nathan was a son of Claude Walter and the late Janet E. Herr Walter. William O. Pieper, 89, of Kirkwood PA, passed away on December 11, 2015. He was the husband of Ann Louise Schulze Pieper. They had celebrated 58 years of marriage.
William had retired from PECO in 1987, working as a shift superintendent of Peach Bottom Power Plant. He enjoyed bowling and travel – most recently this past summer he traveled with family to Prague to visit his granddaughter. Born in Philadelphia, PA, a son of the late William and Frida Schwalbe Pieper. Paul V. Nissley, 92, a lifetime farmer in the Rawlinsville area, went to be with his lord and savior December 12, 2015. He was the husband of Rachel Snavely Nissley. They had celebrated 69 years of marriage. Born in Manheim PA, a son of the late Landis L, and Mae Greely Nissley. Paul enjoyed going to sales, and was an avid rook player. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Joan Dean (Gary), Strasburg, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a sister, Gladys Metzler, Lancaster. Paul was predeceased by 2 sons, Larry L, and Donald R. Nissley, and a brother Jay Nissley. Alan L. Eshleman, 56, of Refton, died Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Lancaster General Hospital following a brief illness. He was the husband of Ellen Diran Eshleman. Born in Lancaster he was the son of the late J. Warren and Helen R. Lutz Eshleman. Alan got to realize his dream of owning his own business and being self-employed after he had been employed by the former Nolt & Nolt as a foreman for 33 years. His hobbies and enjoyments included riding motorcycle, woodworking, working in his sawmill and spending time with his family. Evelyn Darlene Roark, 69, of Lancaster Pike, Drumore, PA died Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Audubon Villa Nursing Home, Lititz, PA. She was the wife of John Harold Roark. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Anthony Paul and Doris Mae Werner Hecker. A homemaker, she enjoyed horses, fishing, the outdoors, entertaining family, and above all helping others before herself. James W. “Jim” Wooldridge, 71, of Nottingham, entered into rest on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Pocahontas, Virginia, he was the son of the late Jay and Cleo Wooldridge. He was married to Phyllis (Neff) Wooldridge for 17 years. Jim was an assembly line worker for General Motors. After his retirement, he stayed busy by helping at Don Lefever’s Garage in Quarryville. He also enjoyed gardening and working on his 1956 Ford Pick-up. Jim loved spending time with his grand children and great-grandchildren. William Lewis Keays, Sr. of Lancaster, PA passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at his home in Nickel Mines. At 92, he was happily married to Hortense “Tensie” Eichelberger Keays for 66 years. Bill was blessed with three children, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. As a WWII veteran, he served from 1942-45 aboard the USS Thorn in the Pacific theatre. He was an alum of McCaskey High (class of ’41) and Millersville State Teachers College (class of ’49) where he graduated in Industrial Arts. Donald M. Eshleman, 85, formerly of Holtwood, entered into rest on Monday, December 7, 2015. Born in Lancaster County, Donald was the son of the late Parke and Orella (Moss) Eshleman. Donald was married in 1955 to Alyce Jean (Adams) Eshleman until her passing in 1986. “Don” loved dancing, photography, garage sales, collecting political items, yardwork and especially his flowers. “Uncle Don” loved ice skating, sledding, riding amusement park rides, and checking out Christmas lights and decorations. “Dad” loved the beach, building the treehouse and eating ice cream. “Donnie” loved chatting and exchanging memories and leaving his “surprise” packages at their door. “Poppy” loved his four-legged grand dogs and everyone else’s. Harvey C. Rodgers, 91, of Quarryville, died Friday, December 4, 2015 at Harrison Senior Living in Christiana, PA. He was born in Christiana, a son of the late Samuel Charles and Esther May Virtue Rodgers and was the husband of the late Irma June Phenegar Rodgers. Harvey was both a farmer and a feedmill operator for Agway for 30 years. He enjoyed dancing and going hunting. |
