Melvin K. Fisher of White Oak Rd., Paradise, died at the Florida Integrated Medical Center, Sarasota, Fla., on Thursday, December 12, 2013. He was 50.
Mr. Fisher was born in Ronks, a son of Benjamin L. Fisher and the late Emma King Fisher. He was a carpenter for Fisher Brothers Siding. Mr. Fisher was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. William R. "Bill" Heidelbaugh Jr. of Quarryville died on Thursday, December 12, 2013. He was 76. Mr. Heidelbaugh was born in East Drumore Township, a son of the late William R. and Ruth Mitchell Heidelbaugh. He was a 1954 graduate of Southern Lancaster County Joint High School, Quarryville. Mr. Heidelbaugh worked the family farm for more than 45 years. In later years, he worked at Muddy Run Park. Ethel A. Van Natta of New Providence died at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community on Wednesday, December 11, 2013. She was 93. Mrs. Van Natta was a daughter of Ai and Grace McCullough Rorabaugh. She graduated from Millersville Teachers College in 1942 and taught grade school throughout Lancaster County, starting at a one-room school at Mt. Airy. Sara M. Lincoln of Quarryville died on Monday, December 9, 2013. She was 90. Mrs. Lincoln was born in Quarryville, a daughter of the late William and Grace Carrigan Mowrer. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ. Mrs. Lincoln was active in the community and did volunteer work for the Quarryville Fire Company. She enjoyed doing crafts. Karen H. Hastings of Kirkwood died on Tuesday, December 10, 2013. She was 72. Mrs. Hastings was born in Elmira, N.Y., a daughter of the late Fred E. and Claire Champney Bush. She grew up in Corning, N.Y., under the care of her maternal grandmother. Mrs. Hastings attended Messiah College and earned a doctorate in child psychology. She worked for several local organizations. Carmen R. Ford Hight of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community died on Monday, December 9, 2013. She was 88. Mrs. Hight was born in Bradford County, a daughter of the late Herman and Zella Conrad Ford. She moved to Quarryville in 1987. She graduated from Camptown High School and earned a nursing degree from Delaware Hospital School of Nursing in Wilmington. Mrs. Hight worked as a nurse in various parts of the country. She retired when she was 82. Charlotte Ferguson McSparran of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community died on Wednesday, December 11, 2013. She was 93. Mrs. McSparran was born in Quarryville, a daughter of the late Ellis E. and Lottie M. Shaub Ferguson. She lived in Peach Bottom before moving to the retirement community six years ago. She graduated from Quarryville High School and Drexel College. Mrs. McSparran worked with her parents at Ferguson & Hassler's store and the former Ferguson's Dress shop, both in Quarryville. She worked with her husband on the family's dairy farm and traveled with him during his years with Mid-Atlantic Milk Cooperative. The couple also prepared taxes for many in the community. Linda L. Kreider of Lancaster Pike, Quarryville, died at home on Tuesday, December 10, 2013. She was 63. Mrs. Kreider was born in Columbia, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Elsa Mueller Mowrer. For 17 years, she worked as a sales clerk for many auctioneers. She was a member of the Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren and was active in the Brethren Church Disaster Relief Auction. Carol Hume of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community died on Friday, December 6, 2013. She was 90. Miss Hume lived in Collingswood, N.J., until she move to the retirement community more than 20 years ago. She worked as the Camden County Director of Child Evangelism Fellowship until she retired. Miss Hume was an active member of the Haddon Heights, N.J., Baptist Church. Eleanor J. Drumm died at home in Puyallup, Wash., on Monday, December 2, 2013. She was 76.
Mrs. Drumm was born in Columbia, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Ethel Kauffman Leddy. She lived in Holtwood before moving to Washington state. |
