Allyn L. Greer, 55, of Kirkwood, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 12, 2019. He was the son of Lyndal (Whitebread) Greer and the late Albert Greer. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Joanne (MacDurmon) Greer. Allyn was a key account manager for Dieffenbach’s. He was a faithful member of Nottingham Missionary Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. He enjoyed volunteering with City Gate Rescue Mission in Coatesville, where he served meals frequently. Allyn also loved to sing with his best friends, Mark Dengler and Greg Pell as “Gracemen”. Allyn wrote many of the songs the group performed. Above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. Doris A. Grube, 79, of New Providence, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. Born in Rohrerstown, she was the daughter of the late Joseph W. and Martha E. (Shank) Breneman. Doris and her husband, James R. Grube Sr., celebrated 48 years of marriage in June. Doris worked as a secretary, retiring from the former Buck Home Furnishings. She and her husband attended several area churches, with Solanco Bible Church being one of the last. She was a member of the Rawlinsville Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling and knitting. Doris also enjoyed all levels of baseball. She and her husband would vacation to Florida to watch major league spring training. She also cherished times spent at the hunting camp in Potter County. George Joseph Melasecca, 76, of Farmdale Road, Kirkwood, PA died unexpectedly from the result of a tree stand accident in Clinton County on Monday, November 11, 2019. He was the husband of Carol A. Bernotsky Melasecca. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of Anthony Melasecca of Folsom, PA and the late Mary Gantz Melasecca. George retired from PP&L where he worked as a power plant operator in Holtwood and was active with their retirement group. He was a member of Ephrata Community Church and active with Encounter Church in Quarryville. An avid car enthusiast, he was a member of many car clubs. He and his wife enjoyed traveling to National Parks in their motor home. Jeffrey Paul O’Donnell, 56, of Lititz, entered into rest unexpectedly at his home on Monday, November 11, 2019. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Judy (O’Donnell) Monk and step-son of Jay “Allen” Monk. Jeff was a graduate of Solanco High School and went on to graduate from Temple University with a Master’s in Music Education. He was an adjunct music professor at the University of Delaware in Newark. An accomplished and talented musician, Jeff studied under renowned oboist, Louis Rosenblatt. Jeff was the principal oboist for the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra and the Delaware Symphony Orchestra. He was also a freelance oboist and had played with the Kennett Symphony Orchestra and the Allegro Chamber Orchestra. Robert Christopher “Rob” Drumm, 37, of Willow Street, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Christopher M. Drumm, of New Providence, and Adrienne F. Sevast, of Florida. Rob was a graduate of Salem High School in Virginia Beach. After high school, he found employment in the construction industry, most recently working for Rain Catchers Seamless Spouting. Rob was a talented artist and dedicated Philadelphia Eagles fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and his dog, 'Kane’. Donald A. Sampson, Jr., 67, of Oxford, PA passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019 at his home. He was the husband of Deborah Weir Sampson with whom he shared 43 years of marriage. Born in West Grove, he was the son of Mary Greer Traina of Kirkwood and the late Donald A. Sampson, Sr. Donald graduated from Oxford Area High School Class of 1971. He studied carpentry in Vo Tech for three years. He retired in 2016 from Curtis/Cruise Construction, Toughkenamon. Donald was the singer and drummer for Tammany Hall for over 40 years. He enjoyed surf and bass fishing, family cookouts, traveling to the beach and playing baseball with his grandchildren. Stephen E. Stephen E. Eshleman, 63, of Quarryville, PA, passed away after a long illness on November 8, 2019 at home. He was the son of the late Robert and Margaret Rineer Eshleman. Steve was retired from High Steel Structures, where he worked for 43 years. Steve enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was an avid Philadelphia sports fan. He will be lovingly remembered for his encyclopedic knowledge of trivia, his kindness, patience, and sense of humor. Mark W. Charlton, 59, of Oxford, PA passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019 at his home. He was the husband of Barbara Teel Charlton with whom he shared 39 years of marriage. Born in West Grove he was the son of Glenda Griffith Kopf of Oxford and the late Wayne Charlton. Mark graduated from Oxford Area High School class of 1978. He was employed with Paul Risk Construction, Quarryville, for 34 years as a carpenter. Mark was a member of Eagles Aerie #2666, Oxford. Ellen Denise (Brown) Larrimore, 56, of Rising Sun, MD passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2019 following a 3 year battle with breast cancer. Ellen was born in Havre de Grace, MD, on September 19, 1963 to Wayne and Ruth (Montgomery) Brown. A graduate of Rising Sun High class of ’81, Ellen went on to earn a BS in Agriculture Education from the University of Maryland. Most recently, she operated her business Buttercups & Fireflies. Ellen loved growing flowers, tending to her cattle, and her golden retrievers Casey & Chip. She also loved being the leader of the Calvert Boys & Girls 4-H Club for over 17 years. Ellen was active in Farm Bureau, Calvert Grange, Rose Bank & Zion United Methodist Churches, and the Oxford Produce Auction. Anna Ruth Fisher, 77, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Friday, November 1, 2019 at Lancaster General Hospital.
Born in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late Eli and Elizabeth Borntrager. Anna had worked as a C.N.A. at the Harrison House in Christiana for over 20 years. She was a lifelong resident of Quarryville and enjoyed taking walks around town and especially Huffnagle Park. |
