Sharon L. Rohrer of Peach Bottom died on Thursday, November 6, 2014. She was 49. Miss Rohrer was born in Lancaster, a daughter of Scott S. and Ruth Ann Church Rohrer. She worked in the restaurant business in Florida for several years. Miss Rohrer enjoyed the outdoors and riding four-wheelers. She also enjoyed working on crafts, especially woodworking. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her stepmother, Alice Rohrer; three sisters, Patricia A. Urey, Tammy L. Long, and Sandy D. Testerman; her brother, Scott S. Rohrer; her stepsister, Christina Mylin; her stepbrother, Leonard Biernacki; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at the Lancaster County Sportsmen Association, 573 Hilldale Rd., Holtwood, from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 16. Arrangements were made through Dewald Funeral and Cremation Services, Quarryville. Dorothy J. "Dottie" Brown of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community died on Wednesday, November 5, 2014. She was 102. Mrs. Brown was born in Lancaster on March 31, 1912, a daughter of the late Leiper G. and Ila Bradley Jackson. She lived most of her life in Little Britain Township. She moved to the retirement community in 1998. Mrs. Brown enjoyed life on the farm and had an affinity for animals. Her mixed terrier Missy was dear to her. She also cared for baby pigs, especially the runts, which she nursed back to health. Ruth U. Bucher, 97, of Willow Valley Retirement Community died on Sunday, November 2, 2014. Ruth was the wife of the late Paul E. Bucher who died in 2000. Born in Peach Bottom, PA she was the daughter of the late Ross C. and Lula Mae Shoemaker Ulrich, Sr.
Ruth graduated from Quarryville High School, attended Elizabethtown College, and taught for 2 years before marriage. Her life was dedicated to being a hard working farmer’s wife, a loving mother, and a faithful church member. Murl E. Aument, 73, of Quarryville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 2, 2014. Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Roy J., and Florence Mae (LeFevre) Aument. Murl is survived by his wife of over 49 years, Doris (Breneman) Aument. Murl was a 1959 graduate of Solanco High School. He and Doris had dairy farmed for ten years. Murl went on to retire from Willow Valley in 2008 after 26 years of employment. Most recently he had worked as a delivery man for Maplehofe Dairy in Quarryville. Murl was a member of Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren. He was an avid golfer and pitched for a local senior’s softball team. He and Doris enjoyed extensive travelling both here and abroad. Joseph W. Baughman, Jr., 24, of West State Street, Quarryville, PA died unexpectedly at his residence on Saturday, November 1, 2014. Born in Lancaster he was the son of Mary A. Kerchner Baughman of Quarryville and Joseph W. Baughman, Sr. of Quarryville. Joseph was employed in the food industry as a server. He enjoyed music, playing both the guitar and drums, and hiking. Charles C. Roten, Jr., 66, of Silver Springs Road, Holtwood died Friday morning, October 31, 2014 at Lancaster General Hospital. He and his wife, Mary O. Trimble Roten were married for 44 years. Charles was born on November 10, 1947 in Marion, VA, Smyth County to the late Charles C. and Frances E. Thompson Roten, Sr.
He was a 1967 graduate of Solanco High School. Following high school he served his county in the US Army as a SP5, helicopter mechanic during the Vietnam War, being honorably discharged in 1970. He was a member of American Legion Post #945. |
