Jonathan S. Fisher, age 83, of 144 Spring Hill Road, Kirkwood, PA passed away at home on Thursday, October 13, 2022.
He was the husband of the late Mattie S. Fisher. Born in Paradise, he was the son of the late David E. and Fannie Smucker Fisher. Jonathan was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Dorothy E. “Dot” Rineer, 99, formerly of Bart, passed away at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community on Monday, October 10, 2022. She was the wife of the late Clarence H. “Dick” Rineer, who passed away on July 25, 2007. Born in Bart Township she was the daughter of the late J. Willis and Annie Trout Graham. Dorothy graduated from Bart High School in 1941 where she played on the baseball and basketball teams. After graduation she went to work for the Hamilton Watch Factory until Dick returned from the war to raise their family. She served as the Bart Postmaster for over 25 years from 1962 to 1988. She was a member of the Georgetown United Methodist Church and was the Communion Steward for over sixty years as she made the grape juice every year that was used for communion. Dot was a member of the Special Division of the Bart Fire Company helping with the monthly breakfasts, mud sales and suppers. Also enjoyed the fellowship of quilting with the Green Tree Thimble Club. Edward Paul Cheslock, 82, of Delta formerly of Oxford passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022 at Pro Medica, Exton. He was the husband of Ruth O’Gorman Cheslock with he shared 56 years of marriage. Born in Hazelton he was the son of the late Edward Thomas and Betty Harkins Cheslock. Edward was a veteran of the US Army. He was retired from Lasko Fans, West Chester and was a self-employed Industrial Designer. He had several patented inventions in use in our everyday life. Edward enjoyed carving birds, fly fishing, tying his own flies and 3D-Printing. Steven H. Kellenberger,66, of Holtwood died Thursday, October 6 at Lancaster General Hospital10/11/2022
Steven H. Kellenberger, age 66 of Holtwood, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at the Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Jill Herr Kellenberger with whom he celebrated 38 years of marriage on May 19th. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Raymond and Myrtle Gregg Kellenberger. Steven was a 1974 graduate of Solanco High School. He loved his job working as a forklift operator for High Steel for nearly 40 years. In his free time, Steven loved spending time with his family. Dorothy I. Kern, 87, of Quarryville, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community.
She was the loving wife of the late Pastor Robert D. Kern, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2011. Born November 30, 1934 in Aldan, Delaware County, PA, Dorothy was the daughter of the late James and Isabella Fife (Kilpatrick) Keating. She had one sibling, an older brother, the late David Keating. Dorothy was a graduate of Landsdowne High School, class of 1952. Following high school, she attended Wheaton College and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Home Economics Education, graduating in 1956. She furthered her education with graduate studies at Millersville University. Dorothy was a public-school teacher for a few years, then went on to be an elementary school teacher in Christian schools in Lancaster County, retiring in 2000. Having the heart of a servant, Dorothy enjoyed creating special memories with family and friends and she loved serving as a pastor’s wife. The passion of her life was loving Jesus and sharing that love with others. Barbara Church Hofmann, 91, of Willow Street, formerly of West Chester, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Willow Valley Lakeside. Born in Painesville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late John Wheeler Church, Sr. and Bernice Millar Church. Barbara was a graduate of Mount Lebanon High School, class of 1949, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Saint Lawrence University in 1953, earning the distinction of membership with Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. During her working career, Barbara was employed in various secretarial and administrative roles as she moved from Pittsburgh, PA to Rockford, IL, St. Clairsville, OH, Beaver, PA, Saint Davids, PA, Devon, PA, and West Chester, PA. She was employed by US Steel Corporation, Gunite Foundries, AAA World-Wide Travel, Elkman Advertising, Life Services Corporation, Summit Travel, Avetx Fibers, Inc., Surgical Laser Technologies, Inc., and, most recently, The Office of Attorney General of Pennsylvania. Mildred A. “Mille” Welch, 83, of Elizabethtown, passed away at her residence on Friday, September 30, 2022. She was the wife of the late Lowell Welch. She was previously married to the late John Barker and the late John Vannoy. Born in Gap, she was the daughter of the late Clair and Mildred Coates Zimmerman. Millie had worked as the office manager for her son’s business, James L. Welch CPA of Elizabethtown for 16 years. She had previously worked for Lancaster Orthopedics as a medical transcriptionist, and at the Quarryville Presbyterian Home. She enjoyed crocheting, had played the piano, trumpet, and accordion, and enjoyed many types of music. Years ago, she was a member of the Robert Fulton Fire Co. Auxiliary and worked at the Solanco Emergency Communication Center. Mildred W. Reedy, age 88, of Quarryville, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at her home. She was the wife of the late Merle W. Reedy. She was born in Providence township, daughter to the late John O. Carter and Reba Adams Funk. Mildred was a life member of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Chruch, where she taught Sunday School for 40 years. She was picked Sunday School Teacher of the Year in 1990 by Donegal Presbytery. Mary Jean Bennett, 78, of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. Born in Clairton, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Vanda (Nesti) Bennett and the late Van William Bennett. Jean had earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh and was also a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Her love of city-life led her to spend most of her adult life living and working in New York City, where she was active in various political movements. She worked as a computer programmer for several companies. Robert A. Hall, age 86, of Peach Bottom, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at his home. He is survived by his wife, Madeline (Kornish) Hall; they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this coming February. He is also survived by 2 daughters: Kimberly, wife of Gerald Rhoads of Coatesville, PA; and Lisa, wife of David George of Maytown, PA; and 4 grandchildren: Morgan Hall, Connor Braucci, Ryan George, and Matthew George. Bob was born in Darby, PA, son of the late Harry C. and Madaline (Gross) Hall. He was also preceded in death by 5 siblings. |
