Peter Rodney Dalgaard, 73 of Springside Drive Quarryville, PA passed away on Monday, October 19, 2015 at Lancaster General Hospital. He and his wife Diane Schlemmer Dalgaard celebrated 42 years of marriage. Born in Media, PA he was the son of the late Kaj Viggo and Edith Lone Curdt Dalgaard. Peter graduated from Ridley High School and Penn Morton College (Weidner University), receiving a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration. He retired from Excelon after 50 years of service, as an electrical maintenance planner. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the US Air Force with the 3902 Civil Engineering Squad. Peter was a Philadelphia sports fan, and was an avid fisherman and hunter of North American big game. Gloria M. McFalls, 82, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 18, 2015, surrounded by her family. Born in Refton, PA on July 25, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Willis and Elizabeth Jones Rineer. Gloria and her husband Ronald G. McFalls of Willow Street, celebrated 65 years of marriage. Together they toured both Germany and France. She was previously employed by Willow Valley Associates. Jill L. Kelley of Willow Street died at her home under hospice care on Tuesday, October 13, 2015. She was 59. Born in Lancaster, she was a daughter of Sarah (Coleman) Kelley of Holtwood and the late Paul L. Kelley. Ms. Kelley had worked for her parents as an office manager and technician at Kell-Tech Dental Lab. She loved cooking, gardening and spending time with her family. Gretchen (McDaniel) Graham, 48, of Holtwood, entered into rest on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Manor Care Health Services in Lancaster. Gretchen was born in Columbus, OH. She last worked for Delta Airlines as a ramp agent. Gretchen loved aviation and enjoyed reading all about airplanes, also she enjoyed animals. Thomas M. Ankrum, 68, of Willow Street PA, passed away unexpectedly at his home on October 10, 2015. He was the husband of Carole A. Daub Ankrum. They had celebrated 35 years of marriage.
Tom had retired with over 40 years with Acme Markets as a meat cutter. He enjoyed sports, hunting, gardening, and softball. Tom was a US Army veteran, serving in the Viet Nam War. Fred “Ted” Deaver, Jr., 94, of Lilac Drive, New Providence, entered into rest on Saturday, October 10, 2015. Born in Quarryville, he was the son of the late Fred and Anna (Evans) Deaver. After High School Fred served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a master mechanic and after serving his country he owned and operated the former Atlantic Gas Station which was located in Quarryville. After selling the station he worked for Don Lefevers Garage in Quarryville. After retiring Fred continued working as a property caretaker for Dr. Richard and Jane Albright. He was a member of the Gap V.F.W. #7418 and the Christiana American Legion, Post #865. C. Herbert "Herb" Milburn on Peach Bottom died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, October 6, 2015. He was 76. Mr. Milburn was born in Oxford, a son of the late Paul Henderson and Elsie E. Milburn. He was raised by his late grandparents, Roy and Geneva Milburn Tung. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division. Mr. Milburn worked for Lukens Steel Co., Coatesville, for 37 years before retiring. He enjoyed football, hunting, fishing, family outings, and cooking. Pharis “Jack” Deaver, Jr., 82 of Ephrata, died peacefully on Sunday, October 4, 2015 after a long illness.
He was the son of the late Pharis F. Deaver, Sr. of Quarryville and Kathryne Matson Dawson, Chester Co., and the stepson of the late Jessie Flaquer Deaver. Jack is survived by a brother, Allen (Shirley), Leola; sister, Mae Jean Morrison, Landenberg; half sisters, Anna Nelson (Robert), Waynesboro, and Darlene Abel, Chester Co.; step brothers, Jim (Dawn) and Albert Walton (Patsy), Quarryville. Albert Lee Talley, Sr., 85, of Oxford passed away Monday, October 5, 2015 at his home. He was the husband of Georgianna M. Tuohey Talley with whom he shared 62 years of marriage on April 11, 2015. Born in Chadds Ford, PA at home on August 17, 1930, he was the son of the late Frank Day and Mary Ella Slawter Talley. He retired in 1992 as a heavy equipment operator from Operating Engineers Local #542. Albert enjoyed farming, bowling, gardening and most of all spending as much time as he could with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gene V. Lefever, 83, of New Holland, entered into rest on Sunday, October 4, 2015. Born in Quarryville, he was the son of the late Lester V. and Esther (Roop) Lefever. Gene graduated from the former Quarryville High School, class of 1951 and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the former Zausner Foods Corporation as a night foreman. Gene was a motorcycle enthusiast. |
