Darlene C. Wingler, 75, of Drumore, entered into rest on Friday, September 27, 2024 at Hospice and Community Care after a brief iillness. Born in Chesterville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Thomas V. and Mary Jane (Sennett) Dixon. She was the loving wife of Henry Russell Wingler for 45 years. Darlene spent many years waitressing at the former Country Coffee in New Providence and also the former Valley View Restaurant in Drumore. She was known for her strong work ethic and friendly demeanor. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dolores Ann “Lori” Wilson, 67, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Monday, September 16, 2024 at her home. Born in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Dolores Fitch. She was the loving wife of Norman E. Wilson for 34 years. Lori worked as an optometrist assistant. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially taking walks and birdwatching. She was a member of Faith Church in Quarryville and also attended Timberline Church in Strasburg. Margaret M. Stanley, 70, of Drumore, entered into rest at her daughter’s home on Thursday, September 26, 2024. Born in Marinette, WI, she was the daughter of the late Robert S. and Bette (Drinkard) Miller. She and her devoted husband, Roy A. Stanley had just celebrated 51 years of marriage in August. Peg was a registered nurse and had spent the last 20 years of her career working at Lancaster General Hospital. She was an animal lover and also enjoyed gardening and cross-stitch. Peg was the very first female volunteer fire fighter with the South Media Fire Company. Jack L. Bates Jr., age 72 of Mountville, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at his home. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Jack L. Bates Sr. and Dorothy Brown Bates Styer, step father Harold J. Styer. Jack enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, biking, and scuba diving. He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer wife of Chad Engle of Conestoga, a grandson, Colten Bates, 2 sisters: Debra Bates and Donna Bates, a nephew, Michael Bates, and a step mother, Audrey Bates all of Lancaster. Barbara Jean Johanningsmeier, 89, of Quarryville, PA, formerly of South Lyon, MI, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. Born in Detroit, she was the daughter of the late Ray Emery Greenwald and Rhea Scott (nee Graham) Greenwald. Barbara was a graduate of Walled Lake High School, class of 1952. For many years she served as the Vice President and Bookkeeper of their family business, Turfgrass Inc. Karen M. Swinehart, age 67 of Strasburg, PA, passed away at UPMC Community Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg on Monday, September 23, 2024, after her brief battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. Karen was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, grammy, aunt and friend. She was the wife of Robert D. “Bob” Swinehart, Jr., with whom she celebrated 48 years of marriage on May 1st. Karen was born in Lancaster, the daughter of the late William Jay Stewart & Virginia Braungart Stewart. She graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School and the Lancaster School of Cosmetology. She spent the majority of her career in healthcare, serving others. She worked primarily as a Patient Care Representative, starting out at St. Joseph Hospital, which later became Lancaster Regional Medical Center and then UPMC. She also kept her cosmetology license active over the years. She took great pride in her work, always reliable with a welcoming, warm smile and a friend to all her coworkers. Jerry G. Wallace Sr., age 83 of Quarryville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at home with his loving wife of 29 years by his side. He was the husband of Dorothy M. Dressler Wallace. He was born in Millington, MD, son of the late Franklin W. & Mildred A. Atwell Wallace. Jerry proudly served in the United States Army. George A. Stiles, 81, of Quarryville entered into rest on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at his home. Born in Morristown, NJ, he was the son of the late John and Emma (Neumann) Justh and the step-son of the late Archibald Stiles, III. He was the husband of Marsha (Verderber) Stiles for 51 years. George served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He attended Fairleigh-Dickinson University in Madison, NJ and graduated from RCA Technical Institute in New York City. He went on to have a career as an Electronics Engineer for the Ohaus Corp, designing electronic scales. Charles “Charlie” M. Mabe, Sr., 98, of Nottingham, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Accent Care Hospice, Newark, DE surround by his family. He was the husband of the late Rosie L. “Peggy” Phillips Mabe. Born in Marion, VA, he was the son of the late James Mabe and Mary Robinson Mabe. Charlie was a veteran of the U.S Army and Airforce. He retired from NVF, Kennett Square after 35 years. Charlie was an avid fan of the Phillies and the Philadelphia Eagles. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors. He loved his military reunions and family gatherings. Bryan Getshall, 41, of Peach Bottom, PA, passed away on September 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a two-year battle with colon cancer. Born in Rising Sun, MD, he was the son of Bennett and Regina Getshall. He spent his younger years playing football, the drums, and working on cars. His red and yellow Eclipse and modified green Civic were hard to miss. At 17 years old, Bryan met the love of his life, Becky. This year they celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. They built an amazing life together with so many wonderful memories. |
