Shirley L. Little, 82, of New Providence, entered into rest on Friday, September 7, 2018, at Conestoga View. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Constant and Paris (Porter) Pelanis. She was the loving wife of the late Kenneth E. “Willie” Little. Shirley had worked as a Library Aid at Solanco Highschool for many years. She loved spending time with her family and her Yorkie Terrier, Whiskey. Shirley is survived by 3 children: Sheree Brannan of Delta, and Barry and Ronald Brennan both of New Providence; 3 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. David E. Waltman, beloved father, grandfather, son, brother and friend passed away on September 6, 2018, at the age of 69 years, surrounded by family at his home. Dave was a native of the Quarryville area, a Solanco High School graduate and husband to the late Joanne (Clark) Waltman and son of Ralph E. and Mary (Blizzard) Waltman. He was an avid hunter, voracious reader, list maker and loved to be outdoors at the hunting camps. As a self-employed builder, he helped many families and friends build their homes and dreams. With a heart of gold, he would always be quick to help those that were in need. Bertelle Rintz, Registered Nurse, passed away at Susquehanna Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on September 5, 2018 at the age of 82. Bertelle, more commonly known as Bert or Aunt Bert, was born on February 21, 1936 in Providence Township to the most loving, caring, and wonderful family a person could possibly have. Her parents were Pearl Stively Rintz and Arnol Lefever Rintz and she was blessed with a sister, Violet, and two brothers, Carlton and Gerald. On September 5, 2018, Bertelle began her life in eternity. Her family will shed tears of mourning, but they must remember that she is now home. They cannot see her, but her spiritual eyes filled with the light of heaven will always be watching them, tenderly and lovingly awaiting the day they too will enter the doorway to their eternal home, and once again be with her. Bertelle grew up in Quarryville and lived there all her life. She was a longtime member of Memorial Methodist Church and graduated from Solanco High School in 1954. Graduating from nursing school at Lancaster General Hospital in 1957, she worked as an obstetrical nurse supervisor on the 11-7 shift until accepting the position as Director of Nursing at the Quarryville Presbyterian Home. She obtained her B.S.N. degree from Saint Joseph’s College in 1983 and was also a licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Bertelle retired from the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community in March 2001 after 35 years of service. Bertelle enjoyed helping people. She volunteered as an EMT with the Quarryville Community Ambulance for over 40 years and served both as a board member and board president. She also volunteered with the Strasburg Ambulance and as a CPR instructor for The American Red Cross. Bertelle enjoyed selling Avon for over 20 years and after her retirement substituted as a school nurse for Penn Manor School District. Ellen Irene Holmes, 99, of Lancaster PA, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018. She was the widow of the late Wilbur C. Holmes, Jr. who died in 1964. Ellen had retired from the former RCA, Lancaster. She is survived by 2 children, Wilbur C. Holmes III, Quarryville, Florence Jones, Mt Joy, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren, and 1 great great-great grandchild. |
