John A. Lefever, 85, of Strasburg, entered into rest on Friday, August 14, 2020 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Rohrerstown, he was the son of the late James V., and Clara (Ferrich) Lefever. He was married to the late Earla J. (Oatman) Lefever. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army and went on to work for the Lumsden Corporation in Lancaster. John also drove milk truck for Landis Stauffer. After retirement, he worked as a security guard at Muddy Run Park. James R. “Rick” Davis, age 62 of Drumore, PA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 13, 2020. He was the husband of Sara A. Towner Davis with whom he celebrated 6 years of marriage. He was born in Lancaster, son of Shirley Davis Wettling of Christiana and the late James R. Davis and the late step father Robert Wettling. He was a member of Living Stones Vineyard Church of Peach Bottom, PA. Rick worked as Yard Manager for Walter & Jackson of Christiana for over 25 years and then for Peter Lumber of Kennett Square. Rick graduated from Octorara High School class of 1975. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, cooking, Newfoundland dogs and going to his cabin in Potter County. Kimberlee Faye “Kim” Hammond, 61, of Millersville, formerly of Peach Bottom, passed away at her home on Monday, August 10, 2020 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was the beloved wife of Brian Lee Hammond, with whom she shared 24 years of marriage. Born in Livermore, California, Kim grew up in Pleasanton, CA, and was a graduate of Amador Valley High School, class of 1977. After high school, she went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Acting from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, CA. For most of her life, Kim was a professional actress and vocalist and performed in both musicals and theater. Christine Anne Rohlf, 61, of Quarryville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Lancaster General Hospital, after an extended illness. Born in Quarryville, she was a daughter of the late Martin E. and Alma J. (Martin) Ressler. She was the wife of William C. Rohlf. Christine graduated from Harrisburg Area Community College with a degree in early childhood education. She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Reformed Presbyterian Church of Quarryville where she formerly served as Librarian and Nursery Church worker. She formerly worked at Mom’s House as a teacher and childcare worker. She loved and excelled at infant care. Ruby F. Graver, 82, of Quarryville, entered into rest at her home on Sunday, August 16, 2020. Born in Martic Township, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Clara (Jenkins) Neff. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Horace E. Graver. Ruby took pride in being a farmer’s wife. She drove school bus and also worked as a certified nursing assistant. Ruby was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed hosting family dinners on Sundays. Ruby enjoyed collecting various figurines of birds, bells, snowmen, etc. William J. Rhineer, age 57, of Quarryville, PA, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2020. He was the husband of Kelly L. Eckman Rhineer with whom he celebrated 27 years of marriage with on February 27th. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Arthur & Dorothy Miller Rhineer. He graduated from Penn Manor High School. He was a heavy equipment operator for Charter Homes of Lancaster. He was a member of the Lancaster Sportsman Club. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycle, going to auctions and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Richard Scott Perry, 41, of Quarryville, PA passed away on Friday, August 14, 2020 in the Hospice Community Care of Mt Joy. He was the husband of Angela Vrankovich Perry with whom he shared 16 years of marriage. Born in Elkton, MD he was the son of Basil and Joan King Perry of Rising Sun, MD. Scott was employed as a security officer with Exelon in Delta, PA. He was a member of Truth and Life Center in North East, MD and Nottingham Missionary Baptist Church. Scott enjoyed hunting and NASCAR. He worked with Jeffrey Earnhardt with marketing and sales. His greatest love was his family. Raymond Junior Greer, 75, of Peach Bottom, PA, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Manor Care Health Service, Lancaster. Born in Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Claude and Nancy Greer Osborne. He graduated from S. Horace Scott Senior High School, Coatesville class of 1962. Raymond served in the Army Reserves stationed in Fort Knox, KY. He was a member of the Eastern Lancaster County Rod and Gun Club, American Legions and Union County Sportsman Club, Millmont, PA. He enjoyed retirement, bird watching and pig cooking with his brother, Herbert. Sylvan K. Smoker, age 95, formerly of Atglen, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2020 at the home of his son. He was born in Mascot, PA, on July 5, 1925, to David Smoker & Mary Kauffman Smoker Lapp (step-father David Lapp). He married Elsie K. Yoder Smoker on January 11, 1947 celebrating 73 years this year. He was a member of Millwood Mennonite Church of Gap, where he was custodian, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher. In the past he was a member of Andrews Bridge & Newlinville Mennonite Church. He was also an active member and supporter of Gideons International and was passionate about sharing his faith with neighbors, near and far away. Sylvan worked as a farmer and was in agricultural sales. He valued his family and enjoyed gardening, sudoku puzzles, chess and playing games. Jody L. Cochrane, age 60 of Collegeville, PA, formerly of Paradise, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2020.
He was born in Lancaster, son of LaVerne F. Hoover Hanna of New Providence and the late William E. Hanna. In the past he worked for Lancaster Newspaper and for Sundance Car Wash of Strasburg. He graduated from Octorara High School class of 1977. Jody was an active member of the fire and EMS service for many years and wanted to further his knowledge by taking nursing classes. He enjoyed sharing the Lord's message. He had the gift of service and loved helping others. He was always ready to share his kidney-pancreas transplant story with others. |
