Lorraine M. Holcombe of Effort died at Celtic Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre, on Sunday, July 12, 2015. She was 86. Mrs. Holcombe was born in Detroit, Mich., a daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Bender Barlbierer. She lived in New Providence before moving to Effort. She worked as a receptionist. Mrs. Holcombe was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church and was active in the Southern End Community Association. Jayden Lee Gonzalez of Lancaster died at Nemours Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children, Wilmington, Del., on Friday, July 10, 2015. He was 10 years old. He was born in Lancaster, a son of Linda Barrett and Jose Gonzalez. Jayden enjoyed being around people and loved his family, especially his little sister, Cassie. In addition to his parents, he is survived by other siblings; his maternal grandparents, Peggy and Steve Brenna, Gary Barrett and his wife; his maternal great-grandparents, Martha Sheets, and Pamela and Dave Barrett; his family friend, Phil Marconi; aunts; uncles; cousins; and members of his paternal extended family. Virginia L. Morris of Jubilee Rd., Peach Bottom, died on Friday, July 10, 2015. She was 62.
Mrs. Morris was born in Elkton, Md., a daughter of the late John W. Pyles. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Joseph E. Morris; four children, Linda Blake of Elkton, Brenda Keith of Saltville, Va., Joseph A. Morris of Nottingham, and William Kyle of Peach Bottom; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, John Pyle and Paul Kyle. Friends may call at Reynolds Funeral and Cremation Services, 144 E. State St., Quarryville, from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m. on that date with Pastor Mick Brown officiating. Robert J. “Bob” Clark, 68, of New Providence, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Lancaster Regional Medical Center. Born in Delaware County, he was a son of the late John and Marie (Ubaldini) Clark. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jean (Schell) Clark. Bob was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and an active member of Clearfield United Methodist Church. He was an avid scuba diver. He and Jean travelled extensively on diving adventures. Bob was fun-natured and a kid at heart. He loved roller coasters and visiting amusement parks. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Joseph C Squatrito, 63, of New Providence, declared his independence from cancer on the 4th of July 2015. So fitting for such a strong man. Joe was born in Baltimore, MD on November 7, 1951 to Peter and Marian (McKnight) Squatrito. He is survived by his loving wife Susan, children; Joshua and his wife Erica Squatrito, Julie and her husband Richard Beckand grandchildren; Jayda Paige Brown and Nolan Joshua Squatrito. Lee Roy E. “Butch” Renier, 76, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in East Drumore Twp., he was a son of the late Lloyd I. and Emma (Wade) Renier. “Butch”, as he was loving known and his wife Nancy (Tollinger) Renier had celebrated 29 years of marriage last Friday. Also surviving is his loving sister, Jo Anne R. wife of Ralph DuBree of New Providence.
He served his country in the U.S. Army. Butch worked in construction, starting with the former Solanco Drywall then went to work for Enck Brothers Drywall and ending up working at Rock and Metal Drywall. Rosemary Heron died in Charlotte, N.C., on Tuesday, June 30, 2015. She was 92. Mrs. Heron was born in Philadelphia, a daughter of the late Calvin H. and Rose Trainor Blose. She married Francis J. Heron on November 28, 1949. The family moved to Wilmington, Del., in 1960. Mrs. Heron worked in the banking and investment fields for many years. She was a member of St. Ann's Church, Wilmington. Esther H. Sheaffer of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community died at Lancaster General Hospital on Thursday, July 2, 2015. She was 87. Mrs. Sheaffer was born in Bart Township, a daughter of the late Carl S. and Mabelle E. Trout Probst. She worked in the laundry and housekeeping department of Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community for more than 30 years before retiring. Mrs. Sheaffer was a member of Union Presbyterian Church, Kirkwood. She enjoyed spending time with her family, raising flowers, dining out, and collecting mugs. Bruce C. Serball of New Providence died on Tuesday, June 30, 2015. He was 52. Mr. Serball was born in New London, Conn., a son of Charles J. Serball of Modesto, Calif., and Donna L. Martin Serball of Washington. Before his illness, he worked for Carpenters Union #465, Philadelphia. Before that, he worked for Smucker Interior Systems, where he was project manger for both the American Music Theatre and Sight and Sound. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed his property in Somerset and spending time with his uncle Warren. Betty V. VanCleve, 92, of New Providence, entered into rest on Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Betty was born February 20, 1923 at the Buck, PA. Her husband, Raymond L. VanCleve died in 2012. Betty retired from the former RCA Corp. following over 20 years of service. She enjoyed cooking, baking, word puzzles and spending time with her family. She is survived by daughters: Linda L. wife of William Waltman of Quarryville, Patricia E. Finefrock of New Providence, Susan E. wife of William Mace of New Providence and Ruth Ann wife of Christian Waltman of Drumore along with 7 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and an uncle, Charles Rhoades of Quarryville. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers. |
