James Louis Robertson, 80, of Nottingham, passed away Monday, June 14, 2021 at home.
He was the husband of Evelyn A. Kolb Robertson with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Born in Boston, MA he was the son of the late James Walter and Barbara Bejune Robertson. He was a veteran of the US Airforce. James was employed with Dupont in the engineering department at the Louviers Building, Newark, DE. He enjoyed restoring his home, horses and carpentry. Dennis “Denny” Keith Cox, 65, of Cape Canaveral, FL, formerly of Parkesburg, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021 at LeConte Medical Center, Sevierville, TN. Born in West Chester, he was the son of Margaret Knapp Cox and the late Willard Cox. Denny was employed with Pillsbury Company, Parkesburg retiring as a fork lift operator. He enjoyed fishing and farming. Earle Oakley Gilbert, Jr. of Conowingo, MD passed away from Parkinson’s Disease on Friday, June 18, 2021. He was born in Lancaster, PA on December 23, 1941 to the late Earle Oakley Gilbert, Sr. and Harriet (Fulton) Gilbert. Earle worked on the farm that belonged to his family for generations, Octoraro 100, until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church in Quarryville, PA. Earle was also a lifetime member of the Rising Sun Community Fire Company and member of the Cecil County Farm Museum and Fulton Grange. In his free time, he enjoyed tinkering and building things. Earle was an outgoing, generous and kind-hearted man who was happy to help out anyone. He will be dearly missed by those lucky enough to know him. Helen E. Armer, age 89, of Christiana, PA, passed away at Newport Meadows of Christiana on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. She was the wife of the late William F. Armer, Sr., who passed away on July 11, 1992. She was born in Georgetown, PA, daughter of the late Graydon & Thelma Reese Murr. In the past she had worked at several local sewing factories. She enjoyed traveling and watching game shows especially Wheel of Fortune. Surviving is a son William F. Armer, Jr. of Christiana, 2 siblings: Dale "Jake" Murr of Georgetown, PA, Shirley "Tiny" wife of Jere Fenninger of Ronks. Doris R. Peiffer, 93, lifelong resident of Quarryville, entered into rest on June 15, 2021 at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. Born in Quarryville, she was the daughter of the late Norman J. and Myrtle L. (Herr) Rineer. She was married to the late TSgt. Quentin L. Newswanger, USAF, who was killed in action during the Korean Conflict on October 23, 1951. She was then married to the late C. Eugene Peiffer for 56 years until his passing in 2013. Doris was a 1945 graduate of Quarryville High School. She went on to work for Murray Insurance Co. for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Paul’s Church in Quarryville and was also a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Robert Fulton Chapter #446. Doris loved spending time with her grandchildren and playing cards. Ralph Edward Denlinger, 68, of Oxford passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE. He was the husband of Marcia Hughes Denlinger with whom he shared 44 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late John and Esther Clark Denlinger. Ralph graduated from East Stroudsburg University in 1975. After graduating college, Ralph began a career dedicated to teaching and coaching. He was a Science Teacher with Octorara High School and coached track and cross country for Octorara High School as well as Oxford High School. He retired in 2008. Judy Ann Greer, 74, of Newark, DE passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at the home of her sister. She was the loving wife of the late Richard E. Greer, Sr., with whom she shared 34 of marriage at the time of his passing in 2000. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Carl K. and Betty L. (Ressel) Eckman. Judy was a graduate of Solanco High School, class of 1965. Over the years she was employed at RCA, spent several years working as a pharmacy technician, and most recently was employed as a cashier at Walgreens. Kristen Appel, age 23 of Quarryville, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Stanley and Cathy Reilly Appel, of Quarryville. In her free time, Kristen loved laying in the sun, going hiking, and listening to music of all types. Surviving besides her parents are her son, Colby R. Jones, 3 siblings: Danielle Appel of Leola, Shannon wife of Dawson McElhany of New Providence, and Brandon Appel at home, 2 nieces, Ella and Lillian, a nephew, Isaac, and her grandmother: Eileen Kessler of Landisville. Menno B. Stoltzfus, age 87 of 65A Hess Road, Quarryville, PA, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at his home.
He was the husband of the late Katie S. Stoltzfus who passed away on August 18, 2015. Born in Morgantown, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Nancy Beiler Stoltzfus. Menno was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Nancy A. Rowland, 75, of Holtwood, entered into rest on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Penn State Holy Spirit Medical Center in Camp Hill. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Elwood T. and Betty R. (Davis) Reese. She was married to the late James L. Rowland for over 22 years at the time of his passing. Nancy had worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant. She retired from Willow Valley Retirement Communities. She enjoyed cooking, canning, and baking. Nancy is survived by her son, David Rowland; a granddaughter, Allyson Rowland; siblings: Ben Reese, Joanne Gregg, and Jane Smith and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James K. Rowland. |
