Gary Franklin Ingram’s journey began in Conshohocken, PA in 1945 and ended in LGH June 9, 2020 with his wife Carol and sister Peggy (Philadelphia) at his side.
His parents Catherine Schreck Ingram and Benjamin Franklin Ingram insisted Gary was so friendly and sunny that they feared someone would just take him home. His journey to Philmont Scout Camp, NM was a highlight until his date with high school sweetheart Carol. They’ve been together since age 17. Journey continued with schooling and marriage until Uncle Sam provided a free trip to South Vietnam after birth of beloved son Jeffrey Franklin Ingram (deceased). Reverend John L. The Reverend John L. Ferguson, 87, of Ware Presbyterian Village in Oxford, passed peacefully from us on June 9, 2020. “Jack”, as he was lovingly known, was born on June 21, 1932 in Colerain Twp., Lancaster Co. He was the son of the late T. Walter and Zeeda (Hess) Ferguson. Jack’s wife, the late Valaria (Herr) Ferguson passed in June 2017. He is survived by 3 children, daughters: Elaine and Ellen of Asheville, N.C. and a son, Kirk Ferguson and his wife, Mary Jo, of Kirkwood, along with grandchildren, Robyn Ferguson and Megan, wife of Mike Sirera. He was preceded in death by his 5 siblings: Louis, Evelyn, Thomas, Aileen, and Alma. Doris Bell Hunter, 88, of Strasburg passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, at Oak Leaf Manor South with her daughter Tamara holding her hand. She was the wife of John B. Hunter to whom she was married for 66 years and who preceded her in death in March 2020. Before becoming an active housewife, she worked for the law firm of Arnold, Bricker, Beyer, and Barnes on East King Street as both secretary-receptionist and bookkeeper for a decade and beyond. This employment gave birth to the 101 Ladies, an informal social group of co-workers and town pals that gathered together regularly in friendship for over 50 years. Afterward she used her managerial and bookkeeping skills to help her husband operate his company Federal Management. Henry "Kip" Shaubach, Jr. passed away at his home at the Buck surrounded by his family on Monday morning, June 8, 2020 after a courageous two-year fight with mesothelioma. He was born in Providence Township, Lancaster County on April 6, 1943 to the late Henry Shaubach, Sr. and Edna (Williams) Shaubach. Kip grew up in the "Southern End" and graduated from Solanco High School in 1961. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Kip loved sports, particularly wrestling and football. He was a heavyweight state wrestling champion and star football player while in high school. He was inducted into the Solanco High School Sports Hall of Fame. Kip went to work for PPL right out of high school and worked his way up from "bushwacker" through lineman and for the last 15 to 20 years of his career with PPL was manager of the Lancaster division. He retired in 1999 after 38 years with PPL. He then started his own consulting business erecting cell towers across the country. Kip retired again in 2010 and settled into enjoying some fishing with family, friends and PPL buddies. He also enjoyed going to their home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware with his wife of 58 years, Phoebe (Musser) Shaubach. Kip enjoyed working with wood and just "fixing" things. He was a HAM radio operator for many years and enjoyed talking with many newfound friends around the world. One of his daily visits on the radio was to a friend in Australia. He also took several courses at the University of Wisconsin related to his work with cell towers and engineering. David C. Thomas, 78, of Little Britain, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 7, 2020 surrounded by his family. Dave was born on June 8, 1941 in Twin Oaks, PA to the late Clyde and Addie (Lord) Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, MaryAnn (Bard) Thomas. Dave was a graduate of Oxford High School and served in the United States Navy from 1959-1965. He was active in fire protection all of his life, having his own fire protection business for over 25 years. He went on to work for and retire from Marco Fire Suppression. A lifetime member of Union Fire Company in Oxford and a past member of Robert Fulton Fire Company, he assumed many roles including Fire Chief for a number of years. He was an active member of Washington Lodge #156 F.&A.M. in Quarryville and Zembo Temple Shriners. Dave was also a 30-year member of Brookland Hunting and Fishing Club and a past member of the Wakefield Lions Club. Connie A. Vickers, 56, of Dry Wells Road, Quarryville, PA died Sunday, June 7, 2020 at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy, following a lengthy illness. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Janie Hackart. A homemaker, she is survived by her husband David; two sons, David (Brenda) Vickers, Jr. and their children Braydon Vickers and Alexa Vickers; Matthew (Lucie) Vickers and their children, Cole Vickers and Miranda Vickers. Services are private. reynoldsandshivery.com Lawrie R. Drennen, 89, lifetime resident of Oxford, PA passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at his home. He was the husband of Inez Lloyd Drennen with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville he was the son of the late Lawrence C. and Miriam Wright Drennen. Lawrie was class officer of his Oxford Senior High School graduating class of 1948. He was a veteran of the US Army. Lawrie was the President of Oxford Grain and Hay for sixty-seven years. The Oxford Grain & Hay is the oldest continuously operating business in the Oxford area and the second oldest Purina dealer in the United States. He remained active in the family business throughout his life. He was a member of the Oxford Presbyterian Church, member and past President of the Oxford Lions Club, thirty-second degree member and past Master of the Oxford Lodge #353 F.&A.M., and member of the Union Fire Co., No. 1, Oxford. He was also had served as a board member of the I.V.B. Bank. Helen V. Elville Hummel Pittman, age, 91, of Buck Heights Road, Quarryville, PA died on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at the home of her daughter, Vicki Henderson. She was the wife of Melvin E. Pittman. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Clifton L. and Hazel R. Cummings Hummel. She was very proud of her profession of being an LPN, working for several nursing homes, and retiring from Calvary Fellowship Homes in 1988. A member of Lampeter United Methodist Church, she loved telling everyone about her Lord and Savior, and enjoyed listening to the praise band. She was a very kind, generous and giving person, always putting others first, and was devoted to her family. Helen enjoyed making fudge for her doctors, dentists, and all of her family. She enjoyed traveling, and visited most of the United States and the Caribbean Islands. Robert Kevin Norman, 66, passed away on May 18, 2020. He was born in Prince Edward Island, Canada and was moved to the United States as a child. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam war. Kevin had a great love for music playing the drums and guitar for many different bands. Every moment in his life could be made into a song. He also had a great love for American Civil War reenacting. He owned an Autobody shop in Canada as well as Parkway Auto Glass in Northfield, New Jersey where he painted and restored vehicles. Most recently he retired to Lancaster County Pennsylvania where he was devoted to his son, friends, and his church, where he volunteered much of his time. Ernest R. Owen, Jr., 91, of Quarryville, PA, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2020, at his home. Born May 7, 1929, in Trumbull, CT, he was a son of the late Ernest, Sr., and Ida (Hitt) Owen. Ernest worked for the State of CT for the Dept. of Transportation until his retirement. He was a member of Trumbull Fire Co., Quarryville Fire Co. and Fire Police, and the Quarryville Lion’s Club. Surviving are his loving wife, Sandra (Weaver) Owen; brother, Berkley D. Owen and wife Amy of Terryville, CT; niece, Mechthild Mendler of Cheshire, CT; and several other nieces and nephews. |
