Carol A. Herr, 72, of Quarryville, died Monday, June 6, 2016 at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. She was the wife of George B. “Toot” Herr, Jr. for over 20 years. Born in Gloversville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Elaine (Harrison) Person. A retired teacher, Carol enjoyed reading, collecting, and gifting books. She was a chaplain at various hospitals for many years. She and Toot frequently traveled to visit family in State College, PA and Vermont. Alice Lorraine Price, 90 of North East, MD, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her beloved family.
Born in North East, MD, on December 5, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Alice (Bryson) Parrett. She was the wife of 63 years of Gene Allen Price who preceded her in death on April 11, 2013. Mrs. Price was a longtime member of North East United Methodist Church and a present member of Elkton United Methodist Church. She was a teacher’s aide at North East Elementary School. A devoted wife and mother, she most of all loved her family and the time spent with them. Troy E. Albright, 54, of Johnstown, PA and Lancaster County, died Wednesday, June 15, 2016 on Silver Springs Road, Drumore, PA. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Doris Marie Albright Buterbaugh of Johnstown.
Troy had been employed as a cook. He loved music, car racing, Harley Davidsons, dogs, and he had a profound love for kids, especially his nieces and nephews. His philosophy in life was “Free Love and Nickel Beer”. Nancy H. Hubbs, 81, of New Providence PA, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016. She was the wife of the late Raymond F. Hubbs who passed away in 1995. Nancy enjoyed flower gardening, watching birds, candy making, and babysitting her grandchildren. She was a member of New Providence Church of God. She was born in Lancaster PA, a daughter of the late John and Helen Rineer Weidman. She is survived by 2 daughters, Ruth (Phil) Aument, Peach Bottom, H. Lorrie (John) Aument, New Providence, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and a sister Jolene Watson, Lancaster. M. Wade Groff, 81, of Millersville, PA, passed away June 11, 2016. Wade was a devoted husband, loving father, and friend to all. He was the husband of Ann Erisman Groff, and the late Dorothy Dick Groff who passed away in 2009. Born in Lancaster, PA, Wade was the son of the late William A. Groff, Sr. and Miriam Wade Groff. He had worked at Turkey Hill Dairy until 1971. Wade retired from his own company, Heritage Insurance Association, Lititz PA, in 2007. He had also been a part time employee for Swedish Motors. Wade had been involved with many clubs, and business and educational boards in the County. He was an active Stevens Trade School Alumni for 30 years. Wade was a member of Manor Brethren in Christ Church, Lancaster. J. Carl Zander, 92, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Wednesday, June 8, 2016. Born in Georgetown, PA, he was the son of the late J. Herr and C. Anna (Baxter) Zander.
He and his wife, Doris J. (Ressel) Zander had celebrated 60 years of marriage in March. Carl served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. After returning from the military he started farming and did so for the rest of his life. Harl Gene Wilson, 70, of Lancaster passed away Wednesday June 8, 2016, at his home. Born in PA, he was the son of the late Lester Berry and Zora Marrow Irving Wilson. Gene enjoyed playing the lottery and watching NCIS and the Jimmy Swaggart Television Ministry. He is survived by 5 children, Gene Harl Wilson, Jr. (Joe Ellen Wysocki) of New Providence, Tammy Darlene Wilson of Lancaster City, Stacy Morrow Lovill (Chris) of Pot Nets, DE, Stephanie Calzada of Lancaster City and Lester Barry Wilson (Betsy Crespo) of Willow Street; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Louise Williams of Apex, NC; and former wife, Darlene Chapman Wilson of Lancaster. Isaac James Walton, Jr., 53, of Oxford, PA, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Jennersville Regional Hospital, West Grove, PA. He was the husband of Beverly A. Kirkner Walton with whom he shared 12 years of marriage. Born in West Chester he was the son of Carol Astheimer Patterson of Oxford and the late Isaac James Walton, Sr. He was employed with Tipton Trucking Co., Oxford, PA as a mechanic. Isaac enjoyed fishing. John Phillip Crawford, Jr., 59, of Middlebrook passed away Monday, May 30, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Born October 21, 1956 in Chester, PA, he was the son of the late John Phillip Crawford, Sr. and Susan (Sorge) Crawford. Mr. Crawford was self-employed having worked in the construction business. John was an avid sportsman. He loved to hunt, fish, play golf and attend sporting events. Over the years he coached many of his sons sports teams. His hobbies were anything to do with his kids and grandkids. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. His greatest joy in life was his three boys. Myrtle E. Ressler, 102, of Mennonite Home and formerly Quarryville, entered into rest on June 1, 2016. Born in Lampeter, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Stella (Meck) Doerr. Her husband, Josiah O. Ressler died in 2002.
Myrtle was a lifetime member of the New Providence Mennonite Church. She served as head of the Cradle Roll Dept. for 48 years and was very active in the Sewing Circle at one time. |
