Horatio Zane Edwards, 80, of Quarryville, entered into rest at his home on Saturday, February 6, 2016. Born in Home, PA he was the son of the late Theodore and Arbutus Edwards. Zane is survived by wife of 58 years, Patricia Ann (Dean) Edwards. Zane served in Germany as a member of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from RCA Corporation in Lancaster then transitioned to the role of Park Manager at Sunset Estates in New Providence. His hobbies included remodeling his rental property in Unicorn and bowling with friends and family in many leagues around Lancaster County. James W. Brown, 70, of Peach Bottom, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 2, 2016.
Born in Rising Sun, MD, he was a son of the late Clyde and Oval (Eastridge) Broomell. James is survived by 1 brother and 7 sisters. Violet Mae (Robbins) Bacon, 95, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 2, 2016. Born in Bridgeton, New Jersey, to the late Edward R. Robbins, Sr. and Violet Mae (Clevenstine) Robbins. Violet was the wife of the late Warren William Bacon. She lived most of her life in various towns in southern New Jersey, while raising seven children. She worked for many years as a secretary/receptionist at Cumberland Christian School in Vineland, New Jersey. In 1998, Violet moved into the Quarryville Presbyterian Community, where she lived until her death. Dorothy Wooley Houser, 90, of Oxford, PA, formerly of Kirkwood, PA, passed away January 31, 2016 at Ware Presbyterian Village, Oxford, PA.
She was the wife of the late Mark D. Houser, who died in 1993. Born in Ridley Park, Delaware County, she was the daughter of the late Clinton John and Mary Alice Dougherty Wooley. Dorothy was a secretary for Trans World Airlines, Inc. for 18 years and a dental assistant for 12 years. A member of Union Presbyterian Church, she was a member of the choir, Circle #1 Woman’s Organization, church decorator, Farm Women #15, TOPS #156, and The Green Thumb Garden Club. Catherine L. Schottin, 85, of West Grove, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Jennersville Regional Hospital, West Grove. She was the wife of Robert A. Schottin with whom she shared 66 years of marriage. Born in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Gillogly and Gladys Blackmon McGowan. She was a member of Community of Love Lutheran Church, Oxford. Mary Good Kreider of Brethren Village died at home on Thursday, January 28, 2016. She was 86. Mrs. Kreider was born in Denver, a daughter of the late Monroe and Mary Crouse Good. She lived in Lampeter before moving to Brethren Village. She had worked at Willow Valley and in the culinary department of Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. Mrs. Kreider was an active member of the Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren and, in later years, the Lampeter Church of the Brethren. She served as a deacon, taught Sunday School, led the Women's Fellowship, and headed the Quilters' Group. She made numerous blankets for the Linus Group. She also enjoyed gardening, tending her flowers, and spending time with her family. |
