Rolland R. King, Jr., 89, of Millersville, entered into rest on Thursday, January 12, 2023. Born in New York City, he was the son of the late Rolland R. and Lillian King. He was married to the late Janet (Levan) King for 58 years at the time of her passing in July of 2020. Rolland served as the Mayor of Millersville from 1992-1996 and was a longtime member of Zion Church in Millersville. He was employed by John Herr’s Village Market for many years and was known for his expert gardening and cooking skills. Sharon F. Scheid, 66, of New Holland passed away after a brief illness Wednesday, January 11, 2023. She was the loving wife of Anthony W. "Tony" Scheid, with whom she celebrated 30 years of marriage in November. Born in Lancaster she was the daughter of the late Elam L. Nolt and Janet L. (Platt) Miller and stepfather, Pat G. Miller of Manheim. She worked at Pioneer Transport for 23 years before retiring in 2020. She enjoyed baking, boating, shopping, gardening, flowers and listening to music. But her true love was her cats, she could never turn away a stray one. She was a fashionista. Louise M. Louise M. “Sue” Rutledge, age 82 formerly of Quarryville and of Milroy, PA, passed away at the Lancaster General Hospital on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. She was the wife of the late Herbert W. Rutledge, who passed away in 1992. She was born in Philadelphia, daughter of the late John Anthony and Louisa Augusta Becker Blank. She worked as a Group Leader for the former Jamesway Corporation retiring in 1993. In the past she was a Den Mother and volunteered with the Little League Program. Forest H. Reinhart, Jr., 91, of Lancaster, passed away at Homestead Village on Sunday, January 8, 2023. Born in Kirkwood, near Quarryville PA, he was the son of the late Forest Sr. and Ida (Rice) Reinhart. He was the loving husband of the late Grace Studlack. Together they shared 31 years of marriage until her passing on August 10, 2022. Forest was a devoted father and friend. He enjoyed gardening, tending to his flowers, and woodworking. Lisa Angst Long Kowalski, 65, of Nottingham, PA passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at her home. She was the wife of Scott Patrick Kowalski. Born in Lansford, PA she was the daughter of the late John “Bud” and Alice Tomchany Angst. Lisa owned the accounting practice of LA Long & Associates, PC located in southern Chester County, specializing in business and individual taxation selling the business and retiring in 2020 after 35+ years of service. After retiring she started DDL LLC., designing and hand manufacturing jewelry. Lisa served as chairperson and treasurer for the Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce. In addition, she served as chairperson and as a board member of both the Jennersville YMCA and the Kennett Square Mushroom Festival. Lisa also served on the boards of many other area organizations over the years. Alan J. Knight, of New Providence, died peacefully Saturday, January 7, 2023, in the comfort of his family’s presence. His life began in Lancaster, PA to James and Edna Knight. Alan served in the US Navy during the Korean War, aboard the Destroyer U.S.S. Fox. He was a charter and life member of VFW Post 3575 of Quarryville and also a member of the American Legion Post 603. One of his favorites was being a life member of the Pequea Boat Club. L. William “Bill” Stephens, a resident of Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, formerly of Parsippany, NJ, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023 at the age of 101. He was the loving husband of the late Lorraine Frances (Adolph) Stephens, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage at the time of her passing in 2010. Born in Bordentown, NJ, he was the son of the late Lewis P. and Eliza Anna (Nelson) Stephens. Bill was a graduate of Bordentown High School, class of 1939. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946, attaining the rank of Aviation Radioman Petty Officer 2nd Class. Bill then went on to attend Lafayette College and earn a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 1950. He also attended Farleigh Dickinson College, earning a master’s degree in math in 1975. For his entire working career, he was employed as an electrical engineer, first for IT&T and later for CBS. Following retirement, Bill worked as a consultant and had a final retirement from the workforce at the age of 80. Johnny Dale Coldiron, 71, of Oxford, PA passed away peacefully after a long 7 ½ year-long battle with prostate cancer on Thursday, January 5, 2023 with his family and best friends surrounding him. He was the husband of Patti Cooke Coldiron with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. Born in West Jefferson, NC he was the son of Ruth Perry Coldiron of Landenberg and the late Johnny Ray. Johnny worked to help Amish families and the Amish community to better understand township regulations and to obtain building permits. He had many English and Amish friends. In his younger years he enjoyed coaching kids’ baseball, soccer, and basketball teams. He was a big Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan as well as an avid golfer. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, mother, two siblings, Randy Coldiron and Brenda Peterson, four children, Audra Coldiron, John P. Coldiron (Holly), Brooke Brown and Dolly Coldiron (Chris Sitter), eleven grandchildren and two step grandchildren. Melvin G. Esh, infant son of Reuben S. & Elizabeth K. Glick Esh, of 115 Arcadia Trace Road, Peach Bottom PA, was born and passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023 at the York Hospital.
Surviving besides his parents are 3 siblings: Rebekah G., Martha G. and David G. Esh at home, grandparents: Benuel & Mary Stoltzfus Esh of Peach Bottom, Amos & Anna Stoltzfus Glick of Quarryville and the late Lavina King Glick, great grandparents: Mattie Stoltzfus of Paradise, Lizzie Glick of Quarryville and Annie King of Leola. Lydia S. Glick, 3 day old infant daughter of Ezra B. and Rebecca F. Glick of 2015 Furniss Road, Drumore, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Nemours Children's Hospital.
Surviving besides her parents are 5 siblings: David, Sadie, Salomie, Anna, Samuel, paternal grandparents: David and Lydia Glick of Holtwood, maternal grandparents: Abner and Salomie Glick of Quarryville, paternal great grandparents: Ezra and Elizabeth Beiler, and maternal great grandparents: Lizzie Glick, Jacob and Sadie Fisher. |
