Alan Lee Miller of Lamparter Rd., Bart Twp. Lancaster County, departed this world the evening of March 26, 2017, and entered into the glorious presence of his Savior. He was 72 years old. Alan was born in Rothsville, PA to the late Paul and Eva (Witmer) Miller. He gallantly served his country during the Viet Nam conflict as a member of the U.S Marine Corps. He was wounded and decorated for his service during the hostilities and received an honorable discharge. Alan worked in residential construction until his retirement. He loved the peace and solitude of the outdoors and was happiest when he was fishing for anything anywhere. He will be remembered as the beloved “little” brother to his siblings; Reba, Ray, Orpha, Jim, Carl, Larrie and Jackson and will also be remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews. Alan was preceded in death by a brother, Emlin. Alan’s final weeks on this earth were made comfortable by virtue of his many visits by his loving family, who were with him when he passed, and by the dedicated professionals of the Coatesville Veterans Hospital.
There will be a service for family and friends to celebrate Alan’s life along with military honors by Lancaster Red Rose Honor Guard on Sunday, May 7, 2017 beginning at 4:00 pm at the Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church, 1199 Valley Road, Quarryville, PA. There will be an opportunity to greet the family immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Coatesville VA Medical Voluntary Services, 1400 Black Horse Hill Rd., Coatesville, PA 19320. Checks may be made payable to the Department of Veterans Affairs. Arrangements have been entrusted to Dewald Funeral & Cremation Services in Quarryville.
