Agnes Mae Hart died Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Rest Haven Nursing Home, York, Pa. She was 93. She was born in Donora, Pa., on May 3, 1921 to the late August and Ora Rhodes Gruller. Mrs. Hart worked in Nanty Glo, Pa., as a waitress and did housework before moving with a few girlfriends to Oxford, Pa., and began working in Elkton, at a factory that made rifle artillery for soldiers to use in the war. She was baptized and joined Little Britain Presbyterian Church in 1956 and was involved in the Women’s Willing Workers Association, attended Sunday school, and taught in their Vacation Bible School for many years. After living in the Oxford and Little Britain area for 40+ years, she moved to Country Meadows Assisted Living in Mechanicsburg and joined the Red Hats Society and Governor Leader’s Senior Walking Campaign.
She enjoyed crocheting, sewing/needlework, flower and vegetable gardening, crossword puzzles, and playing Uno and gin rummy, but her greatest joy was spending time her family. Mrs. Hart is survived by a daughter, Sandra L. Abnett of East Berlin, Pa.; a grandson, Ren (Jenelle) Abnett of Aston, Pa.; two great granddaughters, Gwen and Nicole; and a half-sister Elizabeth (Robert) Karns of Carlisle, Pa. She and her late husband Roy W. “Dick” Hart were married on April 15, 1944 in Elkton. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Diana Lynn Hart who died in 1951, and a brother William Gruller. A graveside service will be held in Oxford Cemetery, 220 North 3rd Street, Oxford, Pa., on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Little Britain Presbyterian Church, 255 Little Britain Church Road, Peach Bottom, PA 17563.
