A man from Delaware has been charged with assaulting another man last month and a woman from Kirkwood has been charged with conspiring in the assault, Quarryville Borough Police said last week.
Jeffrey Lee Mays, 56, of Middletown, Del., was charged with aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault. Wendy R. Miller, 54, of Kirkwood Pike, Kirkwood, was charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated assault. The charges were filed by Quarryville Police Officer Cheryl Thompson Mays and Miller were arrested on March 18 following an investigation of an attack on a man described as Miller's former boyfriend on February 9. The former boyfriend had been attacked in the rear parking lot of the J&B Hotel, E. State St. He fled after being hit in the head with a ball bat. He was taken to Lancaster General Hospital where he received three staples to close a head wound.
According to affidavits Officer Thompson filed, Miller texted her former boyfriend and asked him to meet her at the bar. Video surveillance at the bar showed the two and a female friend of Miller stayed for about an hour and a half. Miller and her female friend left at about 10:30 p.m.
Video of the bar's parking lot showed Miller and her friend talking with Mays in the lot. Then the two women left.
Mays, who had a bat in his hand while talking with Miller and her friend, waited about 15 minutes until the former boyfriend left and then followed him, hit him in the head with the bat, and chased him on foot, Officer Thompson said the affidavits.

VANDALISM - A resident of the 200 block of Lancaster Ave. reported someone keyed her car while it was parked in the driveway of her home on March 16, Trooper Nolen McElwee reported.
THEFT - A white Dodge truck was stolen from the driveway at 99 King Pen Rd. at 4 a.m. on March 19, Trooper Franklin D. Hood III reported.
THEFT - State police are investigating a possible theft from 1289 Furniss Rd. between January 1 and March 7, Trooper Trevor Gauntlett reported.
LITTLE BRITAIN TOWNSHIP
FRAUD - Someone accessed a Latham Rd. resident's checking account and made a series of unauthorized transaction Trooper Franklin D. Hood III reported. The fraud was reported on March 21.
COLLISION - One driver was slightly injured when a van and a minivan collided at the intersection of S. Belmont Rd. and Georgetown Rd. (Rt. 896) at 1:47 p.m. on March 20, Trooper Alexander Barry reported.
According to the trooper, Deborah L. Sharrow, 66, of Strasburg, stopped on S. Belmont Rd. and then pulled out into the path of a minivan being driven north on Rt. 896 by Frank P. Rhodes, 93, of Lititz.
Rhodes sustained minor injuries but was not taken to a hospital, the trooper said.
THEFT - Someone stole a 1996 Buick Century from 210 Maple Ln. at 4:23 a.m. on March 8, Trooper Nicholas Long reported. The trooper found the car sitting at the intersection of Maple Ln. and Beachnut Dr.; the driver's side window had been smashed out and there was visible damage to the ignition switch, the trooper said.
DRUGS - Janelle Lee Souders, no age or address given, was found in possession of drug paraphernalia when state police found her at 1 Parkview Dr. at 10:57 a.m. on March 21, Trooper Jonathan Cox reported. Police were following up a previous incident and found Souders, who had outstanding warrants against her, the trooper said.
