When they were looking for additional ways to raise money, board members for Quarryville's Next Gen Senior Center decided to cook and serve a dinner.
They even had the ideal date - Friday, February 14.
"We thought people would enjoy a Valentine's Day dinner," director Michelle Reeves said last week.
The nonprofit's board members will cook the meal in the senior center's kitchen and serve it on tables set up for the holiday.
While it's not a dinner-dance, a board member will provide music, using the center's piano.
"If people want to get up and dance, that's fine," Reeves said. The meal is open to the public.
Organizers hope at least 100 people will attend. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.; the dinner will begin at 6 p.m.
The menu for the sweetheart dinner includes chicken parmesan, spaghetti, salad, other side dishes, drinks, and dessert. The cost is $15 per person. All proceeds benefit the senior center and will be used to help fund programs.
Chocolate covered strawberries and flowers will be available for purchase.
Tickets must be purchased by February 7. To purchase a ticket, stop at the senior center, 184 S. Lime St. [next to the Solanco Fair Association's Hoffman Building], Quarryville, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday or call 717-786-4770.
In case of inclement weather, the meal will be rescheduled.
