Tracy Alexander knows how to talk turkey.
Alexander, a library associate at the Perryville Branch Library, was able to keep the attention of about a dozen three to five year olds last week with her stories and songs about the Thanksgiving bird a week before the holiday.
During the special Thanksgiving edition of the On My Own program, Alexander told turkey stories and led games. Children were encouraged to think of words that rhyme and they played with turkey puppets.
The children were also encouraged to be thankful. Food was on everyone's mind so Alexander asked the children to list their favorite holiday foods. Turkey, carrots, cookies, cakes, apples, and stuffing were on the dream menu.
Before departing the library program, each of the children made their own paper turkey.
The local library branches have a number of open house events and holiday programs set for the coming weeks. Check your local branch for activities and times.
