The Cecil County Historical Society recently joined Elkton's Art Loop.
That partnership has already reaped rewards and the public will benefit.
Paula Newton, president of the historical society, Wanda Owens, from the Daughters of the American Revolution, and Mary Biron, from the Cecil County Heritage Troupe will present an Historic Cemetery Tour for Elkton's First Friday, October 7.
The Cemetery Tour will begin at the Cecil County Historical Society, 135 East Main Street. Guests will be greeted by a Heritage Troupe reenactor who will portray esteemed Elkton Mayor Henry H. Mitchell.
The guided walking tours will take guests from the
Historical Society to Elkton Cemetery on Howard Street. There they will meet reanactors playing the part of four historical figures - Colonel Henry Hollingsworth, Colonel Isaac Davis, Martha Finley, and Mary Elizabeth Reese Pearson.
Tour times are 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 8 p.m. and last roughly an hour. There will be 75 slots. Advanced tickets are $8 per person and $10 at the door. Call 410-398-5076 to reserve your tickets.
