Aside from the Little League parade and Halloween and Christmas parties, Perryville didn't have many events in 2015.
Movies in the Park, in partnership with Restore Church, and the Farmers' Market with entertainment were also open to residents and visitors alike.
The once popular Autumn Fest and Spring Fling, formerly sponsored by the Perryville Chamber, weren't held last year.
Amanda Hickman, Perryville's economic development coordinator, is hoping that with help from a committee, that will change.
A Community Activities Committee is forming. The group will meet for the first time on February 11 at 6 p.m. in the town hall upstairs meeting room at 515 Broad Street, Perryville. "We want to host more events," said Hickman. In addition to reviving Spring Fling and Autumn Fest other suggested events include wine or seafood festivals and possibly a partnership with Havre de Grace with fireworks on both sides of the Susquehanna.
"What's nice is the sky is the limit. We can make these
activities what we want," said Hickman. "I want to work with Havre de Grace for double the fireworks, potentially with a water taxi connecting them."
Anyone interested in joining the committee may fill out the application at www.perryvillemd.org or pick up an application at town hall. Anyone with questions may call 410-642-6066 or email email@example.com.
