Perryville is having its Spring Fling after all.
The annual event is scheduled is now scheduled for Saturday, May 17, on the fire company grounds. The Spring Fling will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Perryville Chamber of Commerce last Thursday voted 4-1 to go ahead with the event after mulling a cancellation. The event was initially set to take place later in May, but the new, official date was chosen last night.
President Charles (CJ) Heitz was the only person to oppose holding the Spring Fling this year. He had earlier stated a desire to cancel the event because there was not enough time to properly stage the event.
Board members Bob Amato, Alan Fox, Peter Kamenik, and Stacy Ziegler voted in favor of holding the event this year. Tom Kenney abstained. Vice president Abid Siddiq was not present for the vote.
Amato was subsequently named Spring Fling chairman.
The vote was held after a 30-minute discussion and the Spring Fling was tentatively set for May 31, Heitz said.
With the Cody Richardson Run slated for May 31, the chamber elected to hold the Spring Fling May 17.
