More than an hour before North East residents and officials formally kicked off Christmas, William Eveland did his part to light up the Town.
Eveland, who works for the Town's maintenance department, did what he has done for the past two dozen or so years.
He walked the length of Main Street carrying a pole, and flipped the breakers on each of the 14 wreaths which decorate the streets.
"I've been doing this ever since I've been here. I volunteer to do it, ma'am," said Eveland.
But this year's lighting of the wreaths was particularly memorable for Eveland.
He'll retire December 31, 2014, and will presumably, pass the pole to someone else.
