A man was shot early this morning at an Elkton hotel.
Responding to a call for shots fired, Elkton policers officers located a man who was shot in the buttocks, spokesman Cpt. Joseph Zurolo reported. The victim was transported to Christiana Hospital. No further information on his condition was immediately available.
Officers with the Elkton Police Department were dispatched to he New Eastern Motel (291 E Pulaski Hwy) at approximately 2:08 a.m. Upon arrival, officers were flagged down by a person who described hearing two shots being fired and observed two vehicles leaving the scene. The person provided a description of the subjects seen entering one of the fleeing vehicles and a partial license plate.
A vehicle matching the general description was stopped a short distance from the scene, in the area of eastbound Route 40 and Delancy Road, by a Cecil County Sheriff’s Deputy. It was determined that this vehicle was not the suspect vehicle involved in the shooting.
Officers on scene conducted a canvas of the rooms to check the welfare of occupants. While conducting the check, officers could hear a person stating "help me, I've been shot". Upon reaching the 300 level of the New Eastern Motel, the victim was located inside a room and told police he had been shot. Police said there was a notable amount of blood in the area where the victim was located. The victim appeared to have been shot in the buttocks.
The victim provided minimal information, police said. Due to his condition, the victim was assessed by medical personnel and transported to Christiana Hospital in Delaware.
