You will have the opportunity to find out if your collectibles are trash or treasure at the annual Elkton's Own Antique Roadshow.
The event will be held on Saturday, February 15 from noon until 5 p.m. at the Town of Elkton Social Hall, 100 Railroad Avenue.
Back when the event started, it was an auction and appraisals.
The appraising has become so popular that the whole day is devoted to that.
The way the program works is that people can bring up to five items. For a fee of $5 per item, a local appraiser will tell you the value of what you have. The $5 per item fee goes to the Elkton Alliance and is used for programs that promote the town. There is also a $2 admission fee.
The event has gotten quite a following over the years.
People now travel from several states and big cities to attend.
And although it's not part of the Elkton Chamber event, Jablonski said as a result of the appraisals, some people have sold their items.
Even if you don't have anything you want to have appraised, you can still turn out to watch the event. There is always a small group on onlookers who like to watch the appraisers in action.
