Wes Zimmerman is ready for a new challenge. Zimmerman, principal at Elkton High School, is taking a new job beginning in July. He will now serve as Director of Information Technology for Cecil County Public Schools. John Roush will now fill Zimmerman's post at Elkton High. Roush, who is currently principal at Bohemia Manor High School is enthused.
"I feel pretty good about it. I taught there for 12 years and I coached there," said Roush. "If I had to choose anywhere to go, it would be Elkton."
Roush got his start in the school system 18 years ago.
He began his career as a paraprofessional in 1995. In 1998, he was hired a teacher. He moved into administration in 2007, and served as an assistant principal at both Bo Manor and Elkton High. He has been a principal at Bo Manor for two years.
"Bo Manor is a great community, but I guess it's time to move on," Roush said. "What I will miss most is the community aspect. The (Bo Manor) community is centered around the school. We have close contacts with the families. There are close working relationships with the families and the school."
Roush will be replaced at Bohemia Manor as principal by Wanita Fleury. Fleury is coming to Cecil from her post as an assistant principal in Harford County.
"I'm looking forward to the challenge. I've always aspired to be at a bigger school. I'm glad it's going to be Elkton," added Roush.
