Elkton town administrator Lewis George has his own way of seeing things.
Especially through the lens of a camera.
George, who has studied photography and worked for Elkton for about 30 years, has quietly documented the happenings of the town during his tenure. Recently, Michelle Henson, Administration Office Secretary for the Town of Elkton and staffer Jennifer Dickerson uncovered a treasure trove of photos taken by George.
"We have a quarter century of his mementoes and photographs. He's not retiring. But we are archiving what we've found," said Henson. "It's a beautiful documentation of the progress of projects and lessons learned."
The photos are broad ranged. George took random photos of buildings, town events, and some history. He also captured emergencies and tragic events. Now Henson is spending down time between other tasks organizing the collection.
"We are finding history," said Henson. She also explained that there is no uniformity to the work. Some of the photos are actual prints. Some are computer print-outs and they vary in size. This will be a long term project.
