Here's your chance to give your neighbor the shirt off your back.
Or those pants that never fit right or the clothes your kids have outgrown.
On Saturday, August 30 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., the Love Thy Neighbor clothing giveaway will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1687 Crystal Beach Road, Earleville.
Donations may be taken to Zion United Methodist Church, Cecilton, this week from 9 a.m. until noon. Patty Brown, who serves as church secretary at Zion UMC, said that donations have been coming in. Last week, someone dropped off a bag filled with children's clothing and new socks.
Brown said this event is held once a year and donations are being accepted at both Zion and St. Paul's.
It is open to everyone. There are no income requirements.
Brown explained that this event is for clothing only. All clean, gently used clothing will be accepted.
This is a good chance to clean out your closet to get ready for fall and winter.
"I think it's great for people with children. They outgrow clothes so fast," said Brown. "Share your wardrobe and go get something different. Give yourself more closet space."
This event is sponsored by Faith in Action, a church outreach program. Volunteers from Faith in Action have worked to sort and hang clothing.
