They say you can't put a price on love, but if you did, this year the tab would be $150.
The cost for getting hitched or renewing your vows at downtown Elkton's Marriage Day, set for Friday, June 12 at 7 p.m., has doubled since last year.
The $150 per couple fee includes a horse and carriage ride, bouquet and boutonnière, reception with hors d'oeuvres, wedding cake, and champagne. Each couple may also invite 20 guests. The event is held at the corner of Main and North streets, Elkton.
This fee does not include the required marriage license which must be obtained for those getting married.
That license must be obtained in advance at Cecil County Circuit Court. The license is not required for couples renewing their vows.
Jessica Price, administrative assistant for the Elkton Chamber/Alliance, said the price hike is due to the fact that more of an effort is being made to cover the cost of the event this year. So far, no one has signed up but the Elkton Chamber/Alliance staff has received phone inquiries. For more information call 410-398-5076.
