Fortified by pizza and drinks provided by hosting North East Middle School, chess players from throughout the county competed on Wednesday, April 23.
The A team from Bohemia Manor Middle won the tournament and collected three match points.
North East Middle's A team was second and earned two match points. Bainbridge Elementary collected two match points and placed third. Rising Sun Middle's A team won fourth and collected two match points.
Other teams competing were Bainbridge Elementary's B team, and B, C, and D teams from North East Middle.
Individuals also fared well.
Top score medal winners, three of three, are Katie Koerner from Bo Manor Middle, Joshua Dietrich from North East Middle, Kyle Gimmy from Bo Manor Middle, Jacob Tomlinson of Bo Manor Middle, and Brandon Permenter of Bo Manor Middle who was playing for North East Middle.
Top score medal winners, 2.5 of three, are Josh Carter from Bainbridge Elementary, Mitchell Darling of Rising Sun Middle, and Matthew Stacy from North East Middle.
Zachary Jarrett from Chesapeake City Elementary won first place as the individual tournament for alternates.
