No one was injured and the investigation is continuing following this barn fire which was reported shortly after 4 p.m. on Friday, September 6 in the 400 block of Connelly Road, Rising Sun.
Firefighters from Rising Sun, Water Witch, Darlington, Level, as well as Robert Fulton, Union of Oxford, Quarryville, and Cochranville in Pennsylvania, worked about an hour to contain the two-alarm blaze in the one-story wood and metal barn. Damage is estimated at $50,000 to the barn and contents.
Investigators from the Office of the State Fire Marshal reported that the barn is used to store hay bales and feed. Due to the amount of damage, several ignition sources have not been ruled out. Firefighters were called to the scene again on Sunday afternoon about 1 p.m. to suppress the fire again.
